RILS Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 Ive got a set of 34pjs on the way and could use some help getting them jetted.I know there are already some threads here on this subject but I have read them and still could use yalls help.Im running trinity pipes dune/drag port "exhaust 28mm from top" transfers opened up but i dont remember all the other measurments. No airbox.900 ft elevation at 80-95degrees.Im running the stockers now with 340mains and could proably go to a 360 without any trouble ,but its real hot out and they are pretty close 27.5pilot 4th clip. The guy that had the cylinders before me was running pjs with 145main 42pilot and cel needles with cpi pipes and about the same elevation as me,but from what ive read here this seems on the lean side.So my question is should i use this as a starting point or is there somthing yall can tell from my stk setup that could help.Im just tring to be ready to jet these things without buying every jet avliable. So any info would be appreciated. Thanks Quote

RILS Posted July 6, 2006 Author Report Posted July 6, 2006 with my pjs i ran dek needle 160 mains and 50 pilots needle 3 clip Thats what im saying ive been searching and its like some people with basicly the same mods will be running somthing toatly differnt I mean I know elevation and temp plays a big part but good god i see people running 175mains150mains145mains with all differnt kinds of needles and pilots they vary as much as the mains I mean im not new to jetting but there seems to be no pattern with these pjs. wesw Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 it depends on the porting of your jugs. my old setup from jim liked a lot of fuel. i ran pjs with a 60 pilot dek 5th and 145 mains. your setup sounds pretty good from that other guy. might have to start at a 50 pilot, cel 3rd clip and 150 mains. you will have to play with it first get it to idle and adjust the air screws to where it idles good. remember more than 3 turns on the air screws your pilot is big. funny on the pj no matter what size of pilot i ran i could get it to idle with just the idle knobs. then your going ot have to take it out and slowly open the throttle up and see how it acts with the needle. do a couple of test runs on the 3rd then try the 4th and so on. it might like a richer mid or not. go till it kinda bogs or not as responsive adn back the clip down 1 notch. then you take it out put it in 5th gear mash it and get it wot for like 5 sec and kill it pull the plugs and adjust your mains. you have a good setup to start with just will have to adjust to your bike. jbooker82 Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 WESW Knows his stuff. He Helped me get mine going The mods and jetting in my sig are what i am running. I will probably end up droping a main and pilot jet size. WESW when you run the keihin PJ's what manifolds did you run? I have V force 2's with just UPP carb boots. My clutch linkage arm hits on the LH Carb bowl drain bolt. Would those billit intake manifolds re adjust them so they dont hit. What about a Reed Spacer? Quote
wesw Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 i ran a boss intake it lift the carb up over the linkage, reed spacers might help also. Quote
jbooker82 Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 i ran a boss intake it lift the carb up over the linkage, reed spacers might help also. You have a link to that. What filters did u run Just clamp on ones? Sorry for hi jacking. I am done josh Quote

Well I got them on.I started at what he was running 145main 42pilot cel needles and it runs good.Im running the middle clip on the needle, havent really played with it yet it seems to pull hard all the way threw and the plugs look good.I cant tell a huge differance except that it moved some power off the bottom and added it to the top it seems to pull with about the same maybe a little more force, but it pulls quite a bit longer and it never falls on its face if you hold the gear a bit to long.Im sure theres some more power hiding in there just will take some tuning.I got wore out because i just slapped them on after i put my jets in and assumed it would run since they came off a running bike supposibly but if it was running it wasent running good. The floats were set where no fuel what so ever was getting to the bowl,so i had to take them back off and set that then it ran fine.I burnt a brand new set of outwears up,I new they were close but i was hoping they would hold up long enough to test it "stupid" I guess ill have to get some heat rap when i order my new ones.
