Well i went out to the local dragstrip today and had some pretty good luck.I beat 2craptors 1 450r 2 400zs 2 400 ex and 1 was a 440 2 banshees and sevral oyher 4strokes that were just so slow i dint metion.Oh yea 1 of the craptors was a 700 and 1 was atricked out 660.I am pretty new to drag racing and 1 of the banshees beat me twice and i beat him once.I have some questions about my setup.Im running trinity pipes my porting is 190 on the exaust im not sure abou the rest of the measurements but the transfers are really hogged out.Im running stk carbs and i think there holding me back and stk reeds. But my gearing is killing me im running 15,41 and starting in 2nd im going to a 16 on the front do yall think ill need to go any higher than that. What type and size carbs would yall recomend im thinking 34pjs.Im also running 18inch holeshotmxr6s.Im racing in 300ft pretty hard packed dirt. The guy that beat me was running cpi pipes 35mmpwks and he claimed the cylinders were stk,but he was streched and pulling 17/38 gears with 20 inch tires. That just seams like some pretty tall gears and carbs for a piped shee.

he wasnt stock i assure you ... run 20 inch tires and 15/41 gearing ,raise your compression via smaller domes and lighten your flywheel

I forgot to mention my compression is 180psi and im running 111octane.My tires are brand new and it pulls like a mofo but i run thourgh the gears pretty quickly. What do you think about the carbs?

190 on the exhaust is pretty low.. i would deffinitly look into some drag pipes..

the bigger carbs would help you out pulling on mid to top end..

you could possibly put your gearing at 15-39 or so and launch in 1st and run through 5th, the bigger sprockets are harder to get out of the hole with, the bigger bikes that i ride with are running like 16/44 (14mm cub launches in 2nd) and 14/38 (7mm stock cylinder launches in 1st) both are running 22in paddles..

for tires i would run prowedges backwards and they should hook pretty good on hard pack..

also whats your suspension set up at?

I would not run pro wedges on hard pack, they are great for tilled up dirt but the mini paddles do not hook on hard pack... I would run some turf tammers, holeshots, kendas.. ect on hard pack..

I put a 16 on the front today so now im at 16/41 and draged on dirt againest my buddies yz125 this afternoon and smoked the hell outa him start to finish the longer the race the more i pulled.I also have a set of 34pjs on the way and a 4mil crank but this thing hauls now the 16tooth really helped I still had no problem launching in 2nd on dirt I think I could pull a 17fine but the track that i normally race at is very short and I need to get up to speed pretty quick so im going to try the 16 there this weekend and go from there, but after i put that 4mill in Ill proably be regearing and reclutching.Ohyea my exhaust is at 196 sorry about the missinformation.

Must have been some slow 4strokes.

Why do you say that.I race everyweekend with mostly 4strokes on a track that favors them"short and slick" and have yet to be beat by one yet.Theres oly been two that can run close to me and one was a new suzuki moded 450 and a moded yamaha450.Im just interested why you would say that,im assuming they must be spanking you.

Well I just thought if your running stock carbs, stock reeds and 18" tires you arent all that well set up for dragging but as long as you beet them 4POKES.

i'll tell you what, try otzu's on the rear, you wouldnt believe the traction on ANYTHING..they dont last long but man do they hook for an all around tire

I was just thinking about a set of 4-snows.How do they do compared to the prowedge 2s. Ive seen some guys running both and the prowedges are just harder to find.As far as my carbs I just put my pjs on the other day and they run good,im still getting them dialed in but they are strong on top. However dont under estimate the stockers they ran really well and for a lot of aplications would be just as good or better than the bigger carbs. The 34s lost a little bit off idle to the stockers but made up the diffreance from there on they pull a bit harder thourgh the power and seem to rev a bit faster and they neverseem to fall off even if you overrev a bit. They pull longer in the top and are definatly better sutied for drag.I didnt go racing today so its hard to tell just how much faster they are without somebody beside me,but they are definatly faster.Im still running my stock cages and reeds and i know i need to upgrade but $200 bucks is hard to come off of for a set of reeds even though I know I will benfit from them more than before.Im really just getting started in the drags and have been in the process of putting together a 4mill but thats going to bump me up in a class that im not sure i want to run in,so im having 2nd thoughts about the 4mill.Like I said im just getting into it in a competive way and havent even raced in a truly santioned event,so im going to go check these two santioned tracks out and see what im going to be up against in the diffrent classes and go from there to make my next decisions.

RILS, sounds like you're really enjoying that banshee.

Do you miss your gixxer at all?

Yea im having a good time with it. As for my gixxer yea i miss it the banshees quick but the old gixxer woul hand it its ass any day of the week. How close are you to getting yours back together? Im ordering a 68mill cub to go with my new 4mill crank I got to get new pistons, domes, seals a tz bearing and im sure im forgeting some shit. Its costing a pretty penny but maybe this will give it a little kick in the ass.lol Ive been saying when I get it on the dyno and it pulls more than the gixxer Ill be happy and leave it alone but ive got a long way to go the gixxer was a race preped 750 and pulled 178 last time at the rear wheel.Let mw know how that thing runs when you get it back together.Im tring to wait on Jeff to get back to me with his price but Cam at redline has been helping me alot with all the decisions and offered me a pretty good price on the setup.I may just go ahead and order from him tomorrow. He says with the rest of my setup on gas I will proably be in the low to mid 90s!

Sounds like you're on the right track with getting some cubs. Everthing I read about them says

they put out some insane power. As for getting my bike goin again, i may have it back together

around the 15th of never. Lol. Seems like it anyways.

Good luck with the cub set up.
