I have a 98 banshee with 8 paddle haulers right now. I have a mild port and milled head and advanced timing and pro circuit pipes and no lid. I have close to 150 compression and Im just totally spinning when I drag at the dunes. I want to just change the tire to a 10 paddle hauler or a 9 or 10 extreme hauler. Does anyone know what I should do. I have 13/42 gearing which the front sprocket was moved down 1 but the rear is still stock so if 42 isnt stock forgive me. Anyways I really like the extremes but I really dont want to regear so what do you guys think? If I need to regear I will but gearing suggestions would help too. Also where should I get the new paddle tires. I want an all around tire because I dont drag all the time.

8 paddle Haulers should be enough for your setup. I'd bet its more of a gearing problem, I think more tire would probably kill your bike, go to stock gearing 14/41, less shifting, more wheel speed to get you out of the hole. Get up on the tank and launch in 2nd and then shift your weight back to the tires and you'll be flyin.

Depending on what your sand composition is like (loose, packed etc.) you should be able to pull a 9 Paddle Hauler no sweat. You can look in my mods and see what I've done in comparison (will be ported soon!), and I run a 9 paddle hauler. I plan on switching up to a 9 extreme when I port my bike. I don't think you should be over-paddled with the nines, tens possibly though.

I have the Extreme 9s and I will say this: IF you have the power to turn the tire, you better plan on an extended swingarm in the very near future. Mine has really decent power but without an extended arm, it just stands up in the steep stuff. For the real steeps I have gotta put em on backward to keep the front end down (and it actually climbs like a sonofabitch with the tires backward, believe it or not- I just use 2 higher gears and get monster wheelspin). The Extreme 9 on a stock arm is really not much good for dragging either; like I said it stands up and you can't lay all the power down. Helluva blast just farting around with the g/f tho. Effortless point and shoot wheelies, no wheelspin at all- it just bites and stands up.

Totally agree. With the 9 haulers I get just a bit of wheelspin. But like he said, if it hooks completely it's 100% nose up. When I drag in the sand, we have about a 10 ft downhill birm that we launch from and most of the time it hangs the front end for that length, but if it bites, you have to back out and by that point you've already lost. My next investment is going to have to be an extended swinger after I port my cylinders, otherwise you won't be able to get far enough in front of the bars to keep it down.
