Satsol67 Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I pulled the bowels off the carbs and noticed that it has 2 1-1's. Is that going to be a problem? Quote
Satsol67 Posted May 28, 2006 Author Report Posted May 28, 2006 two bowels and they both are side 1-1 .. one is 1-1 and the other side is 1-2 .. the 1-1 is the choke side. Quote
Rustbag Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 sorry, but I haven't a clue what your talking about. 1-1? 2-1? bowels=bowls? Quote
Satsol67 Posted May 29, 2006 Author Report Posted May 29, 2006 marked on the bottom of the bowels. 1-1 goes on one side and 1-2 goes on the other side. They are different for the choke. Quote
[email protected] Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 yeah they are wrong then i guess ... both my carbs got chokes so who knows if it matters if they swap....... i just put shit back the way it was when it was running....... no need re-inventing the wheel Quote
Rustbag Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 I pulled the bowels off the carbs and noticed that it has 2 1-1's. Is that going to be a problem? I'm assuming stock carbs right? I would think the only way it would matter is if the choke tube wasn't connecting right. Quote
oldpro Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 Not sure on your number system, But there is sure a wrong way to put the bowls on.The left side has the choke and that bowl has a jet in it.On mine I i can tell by looking in the orfice with a lite also from the out side one bowl has a little bass looking dot on the outside. If there not put on correctly the choke wont work. Quote

If there not put on correctly the choke wont work. OldPro is right. I just cleaned mine last night and it's true. The carb with the choke has a small brass ball pressed into it that you can see on the side of the bowl facing the engine. You should be able to feel it if you run your finger down the side of the bowl that's facing the engine when the carb is mounted. I spent a couple hours trying to unplug the bowl on the other carb only to discover that it seems they don't drill the non-choke carb bowls (and consequently it doesn't have the brass ball/plug). After 3 dunkings and half a can of carb cleaner, I fished around with a paperclip inside the emulsion tube (fuel supply for the choke tube) and decided that it's either plugged SOLID or there's no hole drilled to supply fuel to the emulsion point. Since there's no tube to drop into the thing, I'm fairly confident they didn't go thru the trouble of drilling it then. As for the 1-1, 1-2 numbers you mentioned, I don't seem to have those on my set of bowls that I can find...Hope this is helpful.. ~cork Quote
