'shee Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 The screw is stripped on the kickstarter, and i dont know what to do to get it out. any ideas without welding a nut onto it? Quote
dirtplay1975 Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 you might be able to take an air cut off tool , dremel, or maybe a hacksaw and cut a slot in the head of the screw if you are carefull without cutting into the kickstarter, that way you can use a flat blade screwdriver to get it out. The only other thing I can think of would be like you said to weld a nut to the head. Quote
DIRTMAN350 Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 May have to drill it out. Otherwise try and cut a slot like stated above. Quote
sweetquads Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 I dont know if you can get close enough but sear has these things that go in a drill and it will unscrew stripped screws. Worked great for me anyway. Quote
'shee Posted May 28, 2006 Author Report Posted May 28, 2006 I got it out! I drilled out the center and tried using a square easy out. I wanted it in as far as i could get it so i used a sledge to pound it it further, but ended up breaking it inside the bolt. so i drilled from the other side, and got the broken parts to come out. i tried another easy out, without using a sledge this time, and it came right out! I was fearing the worst, but now it doesnt rattle anymore! thanks for the help guys! Quote
racer Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 an easy out will never hold up to a hammer. the steel is too hard/brittle for that type of use. hence they break clean and dont bend. Quote
