Hey guys. I just got my banshee the other week and was out riding it, and I went to go up a hill in 3rd with a fair amount of speed and I was not able to make it to the top, I even tried to gear down. Whats the trick? to stay in the power ban all the way up? thanks guys.

Yep! You have to keep that throttle pinned and make sure those RPM's stay up. You're not making power unless you're in the powerband. Build up some momentum before you get to the base of the hill and let her rip. The momentum makes a BIG difference when climbing hills on a 2 stroke

gear choice has a lot to do with climbing hills. practice enough and you'll be able to determine what gear and speed your shee can handle the hill in. but you definitely need to stay within the powerband. sometimes a slip of the clutch will keep the rpms up if it starts to fall off, but you also run the risk of breaking traction and getting stuck. the big hills i climb are usually in 3rd, but 2nd seems damn near unstoppable too on the short steep ones. climb every hill that you have the balls to hit and keep the throttle pinned and hang on. soon you'll be skating up hills in 3rd that you used to do in 2nd, screaming up hills in 4th that you used to do in 3rd. down shifting isn't bad as long as you're quick about it and avoid having to do it between 2nd and 1st. that damn neutral always seems to be there at the worst of times.

Here's what works for me. I choose a gear mostly 2nd and I stay with that gear all the way up. The hills I climb you can't afford to stall or your not going to make it and the bike will roll. I sit on the front part of the seat and put my body over the tank. If I need to hold the front down I can move my body up over the bars and stand, or if I need more traction I can lean back. There's a balance you have to find it. Plus this puts me in a good position to bale off. I listen to my motor for what it needs more or less throttle. I want keep my momentum, but not enough to where my front it going to come up.

If you going to do much climb get all the gear, Helmets, chest protector, boots, gloves etc. Believe me I have a couple stiches in my hand because got stupid and took my gloves off right before a hill climb.

Keep in mind as you getting this advice that the people telling you all have different bikes than you. Banshee's can be everything from plain stock to a 4 cylinder 20mm with nitrous and a 16 inch swinger.

So a guy with a stock Banshee is going to climb different than a Banshee with a 10mm Cub with a 8 inch swinger. Gear chose, position on the bike, how much a running start, etc Make sure you have good tires also and start looking into more mods if your bike is stock. They will really help on those tougher hills.
