13th Grave Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Well I got a stator with an ajustable backing plate and advanced the timing +5 degrees without rejeting and leaned it out, my question is would it be good at 0 degrees and run without having to rejet or blow it up again? Quote
13th Grave Posted April 30, 2006 Author Report Posted April 30, 2006 Bump, anybody have any advice on what to set it on? Quote
trex banshee Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 (edited) you could set it on 0 and have no problem but it was a waste of money buying the timing plate! just set it at +4 and run a little better gas like 91 would be fine or whatever your gas station sells some sell 93. What is your compression? this also plays a toll. also list all of your mods this will help us. ex.(pipes, filters, airbox mod, jets, porting,or anything you can think of.) FIRST BANSHEE Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 you shouldn't have to rejet with a +5 timing change. your problem is somewhere else. Quote
13th Grave Posted May 1, 2006 Author Report Posted May 1, 2006 Well before it leaned out it had stock pistons, not sure how much compression it had. The only thing I have on it engine wise is FMF fatty's and an UNI airfilter and these mods were done before I got the bike by the previous owner,he said he rode it alot and ran excellent. The reason why I got the stator with the ajustable plate is my previous one had broke and got a deal. I had it bored, got some new wisecos and don't want this to happen again. Before it locked up ,it was running tip top and had little gas in the tank.Oh and I was running 93 octane with klotz. Quote
CadillacBanshee Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 +4 is what most people go with. You have to read your plugs after ANY mods or changes. It take time to get it right but you can avoid another lean out. Make sure you leak down test and look for any other problems that could have caused that. Quote

I've run my timing from +3 to +7 with no jetting changes. Quote
