01bansheefox Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 I am not having any luck at alll last week i needed help getting broken bolts out now... I am trying to take my left side off to change the sprocket and 2 screws will not come out they are STUCK in there, cant even turn them and I have almost striped them, how can i get them out? Quote
Wallrat Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 (edited) You need an impact driver. Something like this one: Clicky They're easy to use, you just put the right bit on, stick it on the bolt or in the screw, and smack the back of it w/ a hammer. You can get em at most places that sell tools or just about any auto parts store. Edited April 23, 2006 by Wallrat Quote
watkins Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 I had the same issue. I used a dremel to cut them to accept a flathead screw driver and then used an impact screw driver to get them out (the kind you hit with a hammer)... after I got them all out I replaced them with Stainless Steel Hex bolts. Good luck. Quote
strokersquid Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 ive done this too many times...use a coal chisel and hammer. notch the bolt head where the " x " ends and pound the hell out of it counterclockwise. just dont slip and hit the cover! Quote
1000dollabill Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 if they're good and stripped just drill the head off, take off the cover, turn headless screws out with vise grips. on a side note, i bought a cordless impact gun (rigid). best investment i've ever made. Quote
suzuki0702 Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 those are a bitch... take a flathead screwdriver and a hammer..position the flathead on top of the bolt faceing down as if your going to turn it...smack it with the hammer and itll pop loose...just enough for u to spin it out...go to the stealership and get some new screws!!! 1000dollabill Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 stay away from stock screws. just get yourself the stainless allen head set for both covers and be done with it. Quote
