Yes it is possible.On the end of the shift drum,there is a brass pin that(when in neutral) comes in contact with the screw located on the white plastic cover that seals the case on the stator side.It is there for that very purpose.It is still there from when yamaha designed old rd+rz for street use. :cheers:

I had no idea.

 

I never use neutral on purpose anyway, but good info to know.

so does this mean the banshee has no bits inside for the neutral switch?

ive not got my banshee yet

can some one test the output from the screw head in neutral on there banshee?

there should be a earth there when its in neutral.

what extra parts would be required for this mod and how would you wire it up?

to wire it up would be easy.

you need a 12 v bolb and wire one side to ign +, the other side of the bulb goes to the screw head on the neutral swith lighting the bulb when in neutral.

That's a sorta cool little guage you got there, but my question is why? :confused: I don't see why knowing what gear you are in is worth all that. I know when I need to shift up or down and I do it. What # the gear is really doesn't much matter. Either way, it's your bike if you like it than :cheers: . Doesn't sound like it will be all that hard for you to hook it up.

its going on my first quad when i get it.

I havnt been on a bike before so i think it mite take me a bit to get used to the gears. it mite help me and then again it mite not but it was sat doing nothing in my garage so thought id give it a go.

I don't think you want to wire it into the ignition power.  Try wiring it into the lighting wires coming from the voltage regulator.

oh yeahgood point, i forgot you guys dont have a 12v dc battery on your's.
