Yamaha Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Just read a post on this website about a banshee not running with the throttle slides in correct (with the cutout facing the airbox). I personally just realized the same thing on mine, the slide cutout is facing the reeds, mine has ran fine since I bought it with the slides in that way, should the cutout really be facing the airbox? if so what will I have to do to keep it running that way? I did put the slides in cutout facing airbox once but I had to push or pull start it after that and it would not idle and it just didn't run well at all. Thanks for your replies as I thought the cutout was supposed to face the reeds. Quote
racer Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 (edited) the cutaways face the airfilter. youre in backwards. the reason it didnt run well may have something to do with the fact that they are tuned to be run backwards. try putting them in forwards and re-adjusting your idle. mjr3 Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 i got the same problem the bike runs great w/the slides backwards when installed the right way dosent run i did everything but change needles n jets 2 get it runing the right way i was told 2 rejet the pilot adjust the needle clip dont touch the main jet then kick with the choke out this should make the bike run lean then adjust from there i havent tried it yet giving myself a break till this weekend Quote
Animalman294 Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 I agree with beerman. I think that you adjusted the carbs to run with that amount of air and fuel, it just happened to be backwards. I thought that there were guides or grooves in most carbs that would only allow the slides to go in one way. Bottom line is if they are backwards turn them around and start over. If the bike is running worse, then something else is wrong and that needs to be corrected............ Quote
Yamaha Posted April 17, 2006 Author Report Posted April 17, 2006 (edited) Mine currently has 280 main, and 27.5 pilot, needle in stock position,(middle clip) with air screws about 2 turns out(I think thats too much). Should I return to the stock 25 pilot, leave the needle, and adjust air screws and go from there? I've read that my needle should be on the #4 clip but I don't know. I wasnt paying any attention so i started her up and she revved pretty high, so i just had to switch them back around. Cause the needles are sitting above where they should, but maybe some banshees let you put it down all the way backwords Quote
Duner440 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 The slides will go in backwards if you you have them in the wrong carb. Switch them around and the cutout goes to the airbox. Quote
