Capone Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 And is it possible to run without them. I took my cylinders to the machine shop, got them back today. I got home and noticed the rubber plugs under the exhaust on the bottom of the cylinders where gone. What are these for, and what should I do about it? Quote
Hilarious Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Correct me if im wrong, but arent they there to keep coolant out of the crankcase? Quote
Capone Posted April 11, 2006 Author Report Posted April 11, 2006 Why the hell aren't they just blocked off. I hope he still has the plugs, or I wonder if I can get from yami. Quote
banshee332 Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 thats what they are for to keep the coolant in. Quote
endofitall9 Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 It'll run without them I ran mine for a year when I bought it but when I went down for a rebuild I noticed they werent there, yes you can get them from yamaha.... go to troy-racing.com and click OEM partsfinder that will give you price and the part number you need to get them ordered. MILO Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 i just dropped my cylinders off at the shop yesterday, and if the plugs aren't there or in bad shape when i get it back, they'll be replacing them, not me. Quote
Ben350 Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Vitos has them and they aren't that far away from you. I'm in cleveland and i get stuff in one day from them. I think it's either vitosperformance.net or .com. google it if need be or look in Dirtwheels Quote

racer Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 someone explained it before, and it seems like their presence has something to with the old RD/RZ days. like the bikes had different water jackets or something. Quote
. Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 They are there to keep coolant from falling into your crankcase when you pull your top end off. You can run without them if you want, just next time you pull the top end off you'll get coolant in the crank case. Something to do with the RD engine maybe? cooling jacket went down into the bottom end I believe or something Quote
Capone Posted April 13, 2006 Author Report Posted April 13, 2006 Haha, he included them in the piston boxes. I just didn't look there, I assumed he threw them away. I ordered new ones anyway. Thanks. Quote
