I just had the stock clutch shatter on me. I had it changed to a heavy duty tusk. The gearing on my bike is 14/42 and i ride in sand mostly. Should i gear down a bit and go with a 14/43? Does this affect the clutch at all? I dont want to loose that top speed.

No, as long as your clutch parts are in good condition and everything is adjusted properly you should be fine, I run 16/41 most of the time without problems, I did have clutch problems last year that were due to a worn clutch basket, switched to billet and all is well, good components make all the difference.

no gearing shoudl not affect the clutch. I run 14 44 and it runs great. I also went to a billit basket. you may of had your clutch cushions go out or the idler gear bushing went out and it slipped and chowed your basket. I have a used stock basket without gears if you want it. like 45bucks shipped.
