87banshee350 Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 i got a 87 with bored .65 over with dg pipes, boost bottle, 25/280 jets, needle on 5th line, 40:1 mc-1 oil, twist throttle, everything else is stock and it runs great until i hit wot then it cuts out and backfires out the pipes. could it be the twist throttle opening up the slides to much Quote
racer Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 prob just lean on your main. dont think your type of throttle is going to affect it. Quote
Capone Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 lean lean lean lean!!! Fatten up your jets before you melt your motor. Quote
Handyman Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 (edited) lean lean lean lean!!! Fatten up your jets before you melt your motor. 491275 I would suggest a 27.5 pilot and 340(roughly) main jet and move your clip to the 4th position. Edited March 23, 2006 by Handyman Quote
87banshee350 Posted March 23, 2006 Author Report Posted March 23, 2006 so you would raise the pilot even tho the lowend seems fine, spark plugs are a dark brown to light black Quote
trex banshee Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 with your pipes i would leave the pilot at 25 but definitly put a bigger main in it maybe try a 300. depends on where you live? Quote
87banshee350 Posted March 23, 2006 Author Report Posted March 23, 2006 well i just got a manuel and i set up the carb with the windows and the cut out in the slides and now it wont idle no matter where i put the idle air screws, would the bigger pilot jets fix that, i live in utah its like 4 to 5000 ft Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 well i just got a manuel and i set up the carb with the windows and the cut out in the slides and now it wont idle no matter where i put the idle air screws, would the bigger pilot jets fix that, i live in utah its like 4 to 5000 ft 491432 your air screws are not for idle adjustment. you should have idle screws also. are you running a stock air filter with lid? try a new set of plugs also. your jetting doesn't sound that bad for the elevation and filter system. It could be poping on top because of fouled plugs. Quote
87banshee350 Posted March 25, 2006 Author Report Posted March 25, 2006 it was the coil and plug wires, but thanks for all the help Quote
