87banshee350 replied to Tankinator06's topic in Riding and Events Forum
ive been wanting to go out there but dont want to drive that far to find out there is to much snow to ride so please let me know how it is -
i had the same problem a week ago and the float bowls were on the wrong side, the one with the ball on the front of the carb has to go on the carb with the choke on it
-
well now i think its the clutch, i messed with it more and it sounds more like a chatter, and i can feel it on the clutch cover. so my question is at low idle (almost to die) can something wrong with the clutch cause a chatter sound (in nutral)
-
im trying to go but i just found a noise in my motor so that might stop me
-
i pulled the cover and all the gears look good, how do i check my crank bearing, what do i have to pull off to get to the bearing
-
the top end is new like 20 hours on it runs great other than the noise, i dont think i overheated it, i was pretty hard on the clutch though
-
well i did a search and found nothing, so heres the question, at low idle theres a noise that kinda sounds like a bad bearing and it sounds like its comming from the front spocket area, and at any rpm above a low idle it goes away. it started after riding dirt and rock trails, and didnt do it until i was pulling it up on the trailer and just before i killed it (steep trailer ramp) it made the noise for the first time, tranny and lower motor are all stock. thanks for any help
-
i would check your spark, when mine did that it was the coil and plug wires
-
do you still have the roller
-
thats the same as mine i put bigger mains in and it got worse, i would just get a coil and wires
-
i messed with mine for weeks, and it was the exact same thing as yours sounds and i replaced the coil and plug wires $38 and has ran perfect since then
-
it was the coil and plug wires, but thanks for all the help
-
well i just got a manuel and i set up the carb with the windows and the cut out in the slides and now it wont idle no matter where i put the idle air screws, would the bigger pilot jets fix that, i live in utah its like 4 to 5000 ft
-
so you would raise the pilot even tho the lowend seems fine, spark plugs are a dark brown to light black
-
i got a 87 with bored .65 over with dg pipes, boost bottle, 25/280 jets, needle on 5th line, 40:1 mc-1 oil, twist throttle, everything else is stock and it runs great until i hit wot then it cuts out and backfires out the pipes. could it be the twist throttle opening up the slides to much
-
i just did a top end rebuild and swapped the carbs with better stock carbs and thats when it started, it runs better and gots more power but has the backfire. and the dg's sound good but would like to get the T5's
-
well now its only backfiring out of the right side its shooting a 4 inch flame out the silencer and doing it when reving it up, and it dont have as much smoke as the other side, the plugs are a light black
-
hi, i did a search and couldnt find anything so ill ask, its an 87 banshee with stock carbs, 280/25 jets needles are on the 3rd line the middle line, dg pipes, and im running mc-1 oil at 40:1, it runs great it just has a backfire when tacked out and the right side blows a little more smoke then the left thanks in advance for the help
-
well got it running good, had to clean the hell out of the carbs and clean the filers in the tank, thanks for all your help
-
well from reading other posts, i tried squirting fuel in the carbs, will start right up when cold while doing this, so would that be the piolt jets or fuel straners in the tank
-
well i did some cleaning and swaped the carb bowls, and now it dont pop or backfire but it has a big hesistation when you nail it, and it still has a real hard start when its cold, and i got it to idle but it dont stay the same it changes speed after reving it up, and i took it out and rode it for like 5 min and when i stoped it idled real high, hense the idle speed changing
-
well the 1-2 was on the left side (choke side), so would that only change the cold start, and that would expane why it seemed like the choke didnt work, and can anyone explain to me how to find and check the pilot jets
-
and also with the air filters off it runs great but wont idle, i forgot to wite that
-
well im at 4226 ft, main jets are 280, i dont know where my pilot jets are and i cant find a post here that tells you where there at, and i got two clamp on k&n's no box, dg pipes, and i cant do the compression test till my freind gets here with the tester, oh and i screwed up it does fire first kick after its warm i dont know what i was thinking when i wrote that thanks for your help so far
-
hi everyone im new here and was wondering if you could help me, i just bought a 87 banshee, it is hard to start cold, once warm it will start after 2-3 kicks, it wont idle it will die if you dont hold the throttle on a little ways, and a wide open throttle it will pop, and if you rev it up and let off and rev up again it back fires, and the choke dont seem to work, it has new k&n filters, supposively it has a milled head dont know how much is milled, reed spacers, and that all i know that is done to it, does anyone have any suggestions to what could be wrong with it i would appreciate any help
