gixxerider Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 (edited) just rebuilt top end installed 68mm wiesco pistons ,top notch cool head w/19 domes, ported intakes, lifted exhuast port 1mm,took off rev control boxes off the stock carbs and left switches unpluged installed moose carb caps and throttle cable.installed 190 main jets ,pro tech billet intake with boost bottle(i know wast of money),v-force 3 reeds, pro design airfilter kit,fmf pro curcuit pipes, vitos clutch and springs, running 93 octane 32:1 mixture. at top end i hear a ping/taping ratling sound.if i let off the gas it goes away if i only run 3/4 throttle or less i dont hear it. please help! also throttle is stiff no kinks in cable routing just nice big curves and thumb still killing me once i fix this problem i was thinking of getting a smaller stator w/highoutput and timing plate set at 4 degrees advanced. good idea or bad idea? thanks Edited March 20, 2006 by gixxerider Quote

And you may need to run a higher octane fuel with those domes. I'd ask whomever did your porting for jet sizes. Quote
Justintoxicated Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 (edited) I have to run race fuel with my 19cc domes. Sounds like you may be detonating. 190 mains? I was running 310's with just pipes and K&N, sounds like you are lean too. +4 timing with that much compression + 93 octane = Bad Bad Idea. Edited March 21, 2006 by Justintoxicated Quote
watkins Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Very bad bad idea... I ran 91 with +4 timing and I only had 21cc domes and destroyed both pistons in about an hour. Check your compression. Quote
gixxerider Posted March 21, 2006 Author Report Posted March 21, 2006 so go bigger jets maybe 300-310 and better fuel .what octane hey thanks for the info Quote
watkins Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 The jetting really depends on your elevation, I doubt the pinging it a jetting issue you need higher octane gas... at least run 50/50 pump and race gas.... if you chime in with your elevation we can help better with the jetting... also what pipes do you have? You said FMF Pro Curcuit.. those are two different brands. Quote
thegroup Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 i had the same problem, but with just the right side. im also running the single carb, so ive been thinking of going up in my jetting and start running 118 oct. b/c of my 18cc domes. and good luck on the throttle. take the springs out and cut them down a little. gixxerider Posted March 24, 2006 Author Report Posted March 24, 2006 im running fmf pipes im in st.pete fl. i plan on installling 300 jets and run some 110 at a 32:1 ratio. thanks for the info it helps Quote
aaron913 Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 (edited) i just ran into the same problem today, been running fine since i got it, compression is fine it has fmf fatty, SST silencers i think (unmarked, just what i was told) pro design intake and filter with outerwear filter pro design jets (so i was told) boost bottle i just had the local shop tune it in may and then yesterday i went out, let my friend ride it up a medium hill climb , i got on it and it was pinging pretty much at the powerband or shortly after (which may actually be all the way up there since once it hits its gone!) but other thing is this was a fresh tank of gas (i buy 93 octane i think, its the highest stuff at this Turkey Hill nearby) and i use super-m stuff, synthetic 2 cycle racing oil (5 gal gas : 16 oz oil, 40:1 i believe ....always bought from there before, never a problem my other friend whos never owned anything with a motor besides his car says to richen it ... i dont think thats the problem i have all stock insides excapet the impellar. could it just have been hot from the hill climbs? althought on the way home its a pretty far flat stetch it shoulda cooled down, i rode home under the powerband just to be safe Edited July 2, 2006 by aaron913 Quote

bad99banshee Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 FYI, the 32:1 or 40:1 oil mix ratio is completely dependent on the oil you are using. I run 50:1 but if I didn't tell you what kind of oil, and someone did that with Yamalube or something, that would be BAD NEWS. Pinging is definitely the sign that you need higher octane gas, and you should run your oil at the mix ratio ot was designed for. I run AMSOIL DOMINATOR (formerly Series 2000) at 50:1 and I've NEVER had an issue. Quote

kb01shee Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 I am running t-5s, k&n pods, 4 degrees advanced timing, cool head with 19cc domes, VF 2's, and a dune port with the stock carbs. I have been using klotz r-50 mixed at 40:1 with good results. As far as jetting At sea leve or close to it I run 360 mains and stright 110. At 4,000 ft I run 330 mains and mix 110/91 half and half. I fiqure that my bike is close to your so that will give you a good idea at what jeting to start at. Quote
