bansheeryder21 Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 (edited) Has anyone used the timing key that alba action sports sells? It advances your timing +3 degrees. It is NOT adjustable. Just +3 that's it. It looks really simple and only costs $10. Wondering if any of you have one of these. How does it work and how do you install this thing? banshee tuner Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 I have one from vito's, practically the same thing just cost $25 and have not had any problems. Quote

banshee tuner Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 You have to take off your flywheel and replace your woodruff key in the flywheel shaft. Quote

Is there any problems that I might have that you can warn me about before hand? Let me know anything that I should know! thanks! How does this thing stay installed? (screws, bolts? etc.) Edited March 7, 2006 by bansheeryder21 Quote
fastbanshee4u Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 Yes ,make sure you have the proper flywheel puller that screws into your flywheel.A good impact wrench to remove and install.Put the key in right ,so you do not retard the timing.Make sure you get the flywheel tight or you will shear that new key in no time. The key just lines up the timing for you.The taper of the shaft is what holds it there not the key. Wallrat Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 I ran that same key for 2 years w/out a problem. Others that ran keys had them shear - some leading to further engine damage. Considering you can get a plate from ricky stator for $35, I think its worth going that route just for the peace of mind. I swapped over to the RS timing plate when I changed my stator just for that reason. Quote
2bzy2p Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 its an easy mod but i would go with the adjustable plate u can get a non billent on on ebay for 35$ those keys sheer off all the time, then it starts getting expensive putn the another degree key in and a hastle keep takin the stuff off and on.
