Dinner Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Hey everyone, was thinking of taking my engine out to clean up the frame, paint, etc. Just wondering if its pretty easy to take the engine out and what do i have to take off to achieve this. i just dont want to screw anything up Thanks Quote
[email protected] Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 4 bolts to remove the motor , the one under the exhuast , the one under the engine ( 2 ) , and the one back by the rear shock ....... disconect the wiring , un do your carbs , pipes ofcourse . and its done very easy ( chain too ) .. another trick i learnd is to remove only 1 bolt from the foot peg and let the foot peg pivot down to give u more clearance to take the motor out. BigRed350x Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Make sure you pull it out from the right hand side, as you are sitting on the bike. A lot easier from that side. It weighs like 70-80lbs from what I can figure. That's what it felt like when I lifted it out. I had no problems just grabbing it by either side as I stood over my frame and just scooted it out to the right, then tipped it backward a little to clear the exhaust ports from the front frame rails and lifted it right out. . Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 pull the gas tank and spark plugs off as well.....it makes things a hell of a lot easier When putting it back in, make sure you tape some rags around the frame rails so you dont bang them up. Quote
