Hey everyone, was thinking of taking my engine out to clean up the frame, paint, etc. Just wondering if its pretty easy to take the engine out and what do i have to take off to achieve this. i just dont want to screw anything up banghead

4 bolts to remove the motor , the one under the exhuast , the one under the engine ( 2 ) , and the one back by the rear shock ....... disconect the wiring , un do your carbs , pipes ofcourse . and its done very easy ( chain too ) ..

 

another trick i learnd is to remove only 1 bolt from the foot peg and let the foot peg pivot down to give u more clearance to take the motor out.

Make sure you pull it out from the right hand side, as you are sitting on the bike. A lot easier from that side. It weighs like 70-80lbs from what I can figure. That's what it felt like when I lifted it out. I had no problems just grabbing it by either side as I stood over my frame and just scooted it out to the right, then tipped it backward a little to clear the exhaust ports from the front frame rails and lifted it right out.

pull the gas tank and spark plugs off as well.....it makes things a hell of a lot easier

 

When putting it back in, make sure you tape some rags around the frame rails so you dont bang them up.

I just finished taking out he motor and taking off the swing arm, and a few other things, thanks guys :cheers:
