Xhausted Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 I just picked up my V3s and I was looking at the Installation instructions. The instructions are vague at best. Is there a trick to cutting the factory manifolds ? They mention using a nut as a spacer and slipping a hack saw in between. I don't know about that, these things werent cheap. Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 reed spacers are pretty cheap try that Quote
suzuki0702 Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 its not hard...use the bolts catty-corner from eachother and have at it...u cant mess the reeds up by doing that...make sure when ur done with the intake boot that u spray it out with carb cleaner really good... Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 (edited) With the stock reed cage and intake boot removed, bolt them together with the supplied hardware (I just bolted together at the top, with the washer in between the boot and stock reed cage. The washer serves as a spacer to allow enough room for a hacksaw blade. Then simply cut off the rubber area of the intake that would normally protrude into the stock reed cage, so that your VForces will bolt up flush with the intake boots. After cutting the intakes I finished of the intake with an air mini belt sander that I have to smooth out the transition, and make sure that the intake was perfectly flat on the mating surface.
