Lethaface Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 (edited) When I had my blaster i was always looking for things to sorta set it aside from the rest of the croud..I came up with this little DIY thread for planetblaster originaly but after doing it on my banshee yesterday and seeing how good it looks i thought i would share (I also got a good one on how to make double wide foot pegs if anybody is interested) Ok this little mod is super easy and basically free..Most of the steps are the same as polishing the clutch cover....Basically i hated the look of my warning labels but didn't want to leave crappy holes in my fenders..Anyways here is how it's done without spending the $25 on a ebay kit.. Things you will need Variety pack of wet sandpaper Paint stripper (airplane strip from auto zone works great!!) Drill with small drill bit Plyers of vise grips paper plate or peice of card board flathead screw driver Bucket of water 1. To start off you will need to take your warning labels off..They are held on the plastics with pop rivits..The easiest way to get these off is to lock your plyers/vice grips on the underside of the plastics to the rivits, and drill the centers of the rivits out on the top part of the plastic.. 2. After you get the warning labels off the plastic you will need to pry the metal warning labels off there plastic surrounds(only on the front fenders)..Just use the screw driver to slowly peal the metal lables away from the plastic(there stuck on with glue)..Take your time and make sure that you don't crease the labels by prying to hard.. 3. Now that you have the labels seperated from there plastic surrounds you need to get the glue off them..To do this i put the labels in a paper plate and filled it up with paint stripper..Let it sit in the plate for a good 15 minutes..After they have sat for a bit go ahead and take them out of the stripper..Wash away the stripper and you will notice most of the glue is gone, and what is left easily peels away to leave a semi shiney finish.. 4. Now for the fun part, wet sanding...Start with the lower grits of sand paper and work your way up to the less course grits as you see fit..Do this to all 4 of the labels until you have the desired finish..I am very picky about how things look so i put most of my time into this step.. 5. After you are finished wet sanding the 4 labels you need to put them back on the bike..Since you drilled out the rivits you will need to use screws/bolts to put the lables back on the bike...I used 16 small guage screws/bolts and it turned out great.. If anybody decides to try this, just take your time and it will turn out great.. This was a totally productive saturday :-D..I will get some pics of them on the bike today Letha(--)face Before After Edited February 8, 2006 by Lethaface Quote
MILO Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 maybe it's just the pic and looks better in person. :confused:sorry bud, but i think it looks like you had a hole in your fender and pop riveted some cheap tin to cover it up so you don't get mud in your eye Quote
Lethaface Posted February 9, 2006 Author Report Posted February 9, 2006 It's cool..some like it, some don't Quote
99Banshee Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 I think ill stick with my cut fenders.. Not tring to say it's gay but not something id go with + it's alot better then buying some ebay one's... Quote

Bansh88 Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Not sure about the newer year Blasters but the older year fenders bolt right off. I know 2 people who didi this on their quads. Annoying looking. The warning labels looked better! Just take the things off and leave the plastic Quote
MILO Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 on my shee, i pulled off the labels and didn't like the holes left or the marked up outline of the label mount plate in the fender either, so i put the label mounts back on with rivets again and put my own stickers on it instead. it doesn't stand out as much, and looks like an outline to highlite the stickers i put there instead. 2003LimitedBanshee Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Neat money saving tip. Although I must agree I prefer cut fenders, and I drilled out my rear safety warning leaving the small holes. But if you don't want the holes, need fenders and don't want to get screwed on eBay, this is great! Quote
Lethaface Posted February 11, 2006 Author Report Posted February 11, 2006 thank you .. I think alot of people took it as me likeing this better than cut fenders which is not true..I love cut fenders but for me they are impossible to have in the terrain i ride in.. Thanks for the kind words though, people was throwing shit from every direction lol.. j/k Quote
BansheeBrian Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Small dab of white silicone smoothed out, takes care of the holes. Quote
banshee tuner Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 I just drilled out the rivets and tossed those things, looked much better without the labels. Now I can spot a newbie with those stock labels still on. Quote
BigRed350x Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 Just hack all those fenders off. Problem solved. Quote
