waycott_259 Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 Has anyone ever used chrome spray paint to paint the pipes? would it work? Quote
98bonerSTOCKshee Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 I have used chrome but not on pipes... it would be too hot and prob. just burn off.. chrome paint looks good every where else... as long as the surface is good and clean.... Quote
mike23 Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 I've used it on pipes. I took a high heat engine paint and put a couple coats on before I put the chrome on. It turned out allright. I haven't had any problems Quote
nutcase Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 chrome paint sucks.it will burn off pipes and turn yellow plus it never seemd to totaly dry.after a couple days you can rub your finger on it and your finger would be silver Quote
yamahammer_409 Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 For my $.02 Chrome paint just sucks. I just have never had it to look like anything more than cheap spray. But that is just from my account. Some people might be able to get it to look good. Try for yourself and let us know how it come out. Hell if all else fells just sand it back down and paint it high temp black. As mike23 said make sure you use high temp first.(several coats) Thanks Ryan J Dont forget to post some pics and show us what it looks like. Quote
crazywheelerman365 Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 Would'nt try it ! Waste o money if ya ask me .... Quote
Shee-Male Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 You can buy silver header paint and clear header paint for a real glossy finish, and it won't have the cheesey chrome paint look Quote
bansheeryder_69 Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 two words for you.........white trash Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 Has anyone ever used chrome spray paint to paint the pipes? would it work? I think it would suck but, It's all how you work the craft! I used a sander on the drill and left a clean surface down to the sheet metal before i applied the black. A technique like that would leave a smooth surface for mirror reflection on that chrome. Hope it works out and post up that before and after pic!! Quote
