Animalman294 Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 I remember a while back I was looking though a Dirt Wheels or Sand Sport magazine and I came across a bracket that moved the axle carrier on a stock length swingarm out two inches. It looked like a bolt on item to me but I suppose I could drop a line of weld on it to strengthen it. My question is this, I could only find the two inch extension, but I am interested in a four inch extension. Has anyone seen a four inch one or is the liability too great for the manufacturers, so they just don't even bother? I was thinking about getting some 1/4 inch flat stock and designing my own, but was also wondering if there was a reason they didn't make them already? I'm working on the motor right now and can't afford to drop another $8-900.00 on a four inch swinger. I just dont want to turtle it over every time I mash my thumb down on the throttle when the engine work is done. Thanks for the input, just an idea........... Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 I would wait and so how it launches before you change the swingarm, you might like it the way it is. goodluck Quote

chevyboy51 Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 i've seen 4" plates advertised before they do make them can't rember where though Quote
sheecandy Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 on my 04 i extended the stock arm 2.5 in with some 1/4 flat bar with good results the stock shock still worked good just needed a longer chain and brake line Quote
RIPPEN Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 I just have the stock swinger extended on mine. I want to eventually spend the bucks for a nice one but right now it works fine. There are several welders around here who do it for 150-200 but I have also seen a thread recently here on HQ where someone is doing the stockers any length for(I think) 275. Also gotta add for the brake line though . Otherwise the only bolt on ext. I have seen was a 4" for the Raptor RIPPEN Quote
race-a-holic Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 (edited) I had a JTM extension on mine before I bought a longer swingarm.I think they sell for under $200.It was made out of aluminum and worked great. It also allowed alot of room for adjusting the chain. If you're not buying a swingarm, they are a great investment.I think they come in +3 and +5.Mine was the +5.They had an ad in dirtwheels at one time. www.jaeckeltool.com Edited January 23, 2006 by race-a-holic Quote
crazywheelerman365 Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 This might be an old topic buy now but I just couldn't imagine paying that much to lengthin a stock swingarm ? I done mine myself with 3" cold rolled steel , and run the piss outa it . Its never givin me a problem and im still running the stock spring...you should be able to get this done for 75 or a 100 bucks at the most .. maybe its a west coast thing? Quote
