2003LimitedBanshee Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Because you should have some free play in the throttle cable. In other words, when the slides rest against the Idle speed screw (I, in your diagram) the screw, not the cable adjuster should be restricting the slide from going in lower in the bore (thus reducing rpm more if it did), not the cable being tight, and thus the slide physically unable to drop any further. Otherwise, if I'm understanding how you adjust yours, there really wouldn't be any reason to have the idle screws (I) because the cable would be tight (uanble to slow rpm any further) when your thumb was completely off the throttle. If it is properly adjusted, without the idle screws the rpm would be able to drop further than the minimum idle speed due to the extra slack (small amount) that should be present in the throttle cable. 2003LimitedBanshee Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 (edited) r u reading out of a book 457869[/snapback] No, why do you need some help? I have read out of books before... This is just how people type when they rnt using abbreviations 2 rite their response, u no? edit: Oh yeah, here's some reading for you... not exactly a book, but it would be made from paper if you printed it... Banchetta Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Ditto, you adjust and sync the cables, but you also have to sync the idle screws. If you have one idle screw holding the slide higher than the other side, then your shee won't idle as smooth or start as well...it'll also help w/ throttle response, since both sides will be running in harmony as oppose to one side pulling the other...once you hit the throttle then the response will be better since the air/fuel ratio will be more similiar for both sides....even after you whack the throttle, it takes a couple of seconds for the air/fuel ratio in the lower end to clean out to the new mixture of open throttle.......the little things that cost nothing makes a difference..
