banshee223 Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 They only thing about learning on a banshee, is if your not used to working the clutch and keeping your rpm's up then you are going to foul abunch of plugs, my first quad was a banshee also but i've ridden other quads before I bought my own. If you are wanting a banshee, get it. You should get what you want anywase because if you don't you will probably get one later down the road because you wanted on in the first place. IF you don't get a banshee I would say get a YFZ 450, plenty of power and good quad, also less maintance on a 4 stroke than 2 but that is just my opinon though Quote
sandman121383 Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 welcome aboard Chips!!! i'm gonna vote banshee too. it was the first quad i ever rode and i was hooked. from that moment on i knew ihad to have a quad and i knew it had to be a banshee. i wouldn't settle for less. Quote
GYTWYPT Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 If she is that close to the dunes then what in the hell is there left to talk about. It wont take that long to get used to a banshee if you have any concept of a clutch and shifting whatsoever, and for fouled plugs come on. I have had my shee for over 10 years and can probably count the fouled plugs on one hand. If you have the cash and can shift gears I think you should go with a new stock shee. Pretty tame and you wont be left wanting in a month (except pipes, carbs, port, reeds, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. My first quad was a warrior and one trip to the dunes and i was done with it. Like GYTWYPT said, I'm sure I could count the number of fouled plugs on one hand. In fact I've only had a problem with one plug on my Banshee, ever. And in that case, I'm not to sure the plug didn't break down internally, because I simply swapped plugs and never had another problem. Quote
Chips2000 Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 Thanks guys for the welcome. Everyone in my family/friends who ride quads all showed up at Glamis with shiny new 4 stroker quads, and they all thought the $2500 I spent on this poor old used Banshee was a waste right up to the time I blew past them up Olds, screaming (both me and the 'Shee!) all the way up. I get chills thinking how much fun that was! Again, thanks for the welcome to this forum. Chips2000 Quote
banshee223 Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 I've never fouled any plugs either but I didn't lug my banshee around also Quote
GYTWYPT Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 I've never fouled any plugs either but I didn't lug my banshee around also 459281[/snapback] Hell I am sure i would sound alot cooler if i said i have never luged my shee around but fact is I am sure I have covered every manner and style of riding over the last decade, and like 03LB said if it is jetted right you shouldnt have any problems no matter how you ride it. I was being on the safe side when i said i could count them on one hand. Like 03LB i can only remember one time when i had a plug problem. Quote
UNITED_BANSHEE_10 Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 My first ever Quad was an Eton 90cc When I was 10 years Old, then when i was around 14 i got my self a Motor Bike. I sold Both of them and got me a Banshee when i was 14-15. and Now here i am, enjoying life with my shee. If u understand the Quad, and have confidence, you will be safe aslong as you have the right equimpment when doing stunts Quote
scottsh80 Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Hopefully someone will see this post as this is an OLD topic; This is my first post and i just purchased my first ever ATV tonight, a 2002 banshee (stock). Hoping you guys might have some advice - i got the throttle screw thing, and the keeping the rpms high to avoid fouling plugs thing... The thing is, i've only ridden atv's a couple of times in my life, so any advice that even seems obvious to most would be appreciated..., feel free to email me as well... I assume when you say get 'jetted' you mean the carb, how do you do this? Any advice on downshifting/braking ; how to know when to upshift, etc. would be helpful. I know these are simple-minded questions, but i really don't know much about these things, and i want to take care of it and have as much fun safely as possible. Quote
GregVanliew Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 i learned how to ride on a banshee, and yes when you hit the power band for the first time you will shit yourself. i got soo scared when it happend to me but yeah i think you should get what you think you would like when you get better at riding just soo you dont have to sell and buy again i think you would be pretty happy with a banshee i personally like four strokes a little better i have a 03 kfx400 and i think that can be a good beginer bike but i think you can learn on a shee sooo if thats what you want then you should get it ....o yeah ps DONT BUY A 400EX they are shit in every aspect in my opinion a kfx/z400 will smoke a ex but on the other hand a shee will smoke all three of them soo the choice is up to you Quote
