atownswhizkid Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Can someone tell me what is the first thing i should buy for building a banshee? And should i get a race cut style fenders? Or stock and paint them? Has anyone ever painted there frame with krylon paint rust preventive? Quote
2strokesmoke Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 pipes and a air filter if it is stock . cut those fenders Quote
Gargamel Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 are you talking build as in from scratch or as in mods scratch- frame mods- pipes, shocks, steering damp, go fast motor stuff Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 I agree. If you are starting from the ground up, buying a set of spindles, a rear sprocket and a seat aint going to do you any good. Frame first. But it might be easier to go buy a used junker and rebuild it. Buying parts is fine and all but eventually it becomes a pain in the ass everytime you turn around there's something else you need to buy. Quote
[email protected] Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 (edited) im on my 2nd complete banshee build and have a third frame waiting.. i know from past mistakes what is the way to go about building it to save time money/headacches.... here is particually the order i go from .. Frame ( front end now ) spindles hubs a arms tie rods steering stem break calipers handlebars break levers etc ( rear end ) swing arm carrier axel chain tensioners shock linkage and dog bone swinger bolt rear break calipers + resivors / lever (misc ) radiator gas tank foot pegs cdi / harness SHOCKS Seat motor mounts radiatior mounts ( last but not least ) ENGINE , PIPES carbs reeds aribox the reason i leave the last but not least section is because depending on what engine ub uy sometimes it comes with carbs / reeds / airbox ....... im sure i missed a few parts that people are going to rag on me ,but i dont got all day to type on a forum. but hey if u want to do it your way go for it buddy , i am only throwin in my 2stroke cents Edited December 29, 2005 by [email protected] Quote

[email protected] Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 i go by deals , if the suspension is going for a preety high price i will wait till its my turn , i currently run warrior shocks on my banshee and i have them on the softest setting and they are EXTREMLY nice for the PRICE , i paid 25 shipped gotta love it !!! ..... take your time on deals dont try to rush into buying anything i seen stuff go for really cheap Quote
decon Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 personally I would buy a fixer upper for cheap and then mod it up, that would be a cheaper and easier route to go. Quote

The only hard part is finding a motor that is cheap and wire harness. And if anyone has any parts for cheap PM me please. Quote
low8599 Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 i have a cool head with 20 cc domes pro cirict pipes reeds and reed spacers clamp on k&n"s pvl ignition boost bottle and it is getting ported should i run trinitys one carb or run two bigger carbs Quote
locogato11283 Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 id buy an older banshee and start fromt here. trying to piece one together is gonna take forever and cost a fortune. once u get one, pipes and air filter are the best first mods.. Quote
ogre03 Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Not to mention, if you pick up an older one for cheap you can ride it while you are modding it. If you start from scratch you won't be able to ride till it's together. (I don't know if you have other bikes or not, this may not be an issue for you.) Quote
Forsale96 Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Yeah just look at ebay. They arent parting banshees out for no reason.Im ready to part mine out there cause I know Ill get more than selling it whole. It is mostly stock but I do have money invested.Good luck Quote
