02bluemxshee Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 (edited) Ok first off I'd like to put a set of skis on my banshee so i can ride in the snow, but I also want to be able to take them off easily, and I want to do it cheap, less than $200. Now I have a small drawing made but I'm not going to bother posting it, and I talked to stclark and he said someone here has done it. So if anyone out there knows who, or has pictures so I can get a better idea of what to do. Here are my plans so far, I'm not a fabricating genius, but here it goes.... I want to mount it to the stock hub because it will be easy to take on and off. I dont want to mount anything to the spindle because I will be forced to have custom bushings made, or something will damage my spindles. My 2nd plan is to use heavy enough steel for the drop from the spindle and triangulate my corners for strength, so that when I am cornering and I bump something the drop doesnt roll over and end my riding. As for the skis being the fronts are turned up i dont think there will be a problem with them catching anything and flipping. If anyone has anything to add lemme know I could use some help. Fireman-hott Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 That was last year before the extended a-arms, extended axle, and triple rate elkas zero preload elkas. Yeah thats about how much snow we got last year I never got it out in the snow. Basically its a set of stock sled skis. I'll have to do some searching to figure out which ones exactly but they have 4 bolts holes on top very easy to fab. Took about a 1/4" piece of metal heated and bent it into shape, cut holes to line up on the hubs. the hubs have this wave to them thats a pain to get right. Made the the skis were on flat level ground(use a level) locked up the brakes there is an adjustment for that and duct taped the front brake lever also just in case. But like I said I never got to take it out there was no real snow. And as my luck theres 5 inches on the ground right now 8 more expected by thursday and I cant use my left hand to go out. Son of a bitch I tell you. For the funny guys out there, lawn mower and dryer and fan were left by the old owner of the house. dryer motor locked up in a month I had to go buy a new one and that lawn mower never did run. Fan worked, but with a youngin too dangerous. *edit if I remeber right the shee on ogre03's post was boonmans setup that he sold. Quote
