If you are going to advance your timing to a +3 or +4 is it a given to run race gas or will 94 octane work?

Na, If all your doing is adding 3 or 4 degrees to your timming, Pump gas would be fine.

But im also guessing that your compression isnt any higher than around 150psi.

You wont have to worry about using race fuel untill you go to +7 or higher-or much higher than 150 psi.

It depends on how much compression you're running. For instance, I was running 150 psi in both cylinders with +4 timing on 93 octane gas; no problems at all. If you are near the 160 psi range and you want to advance your timing, you'll probably want to go to a 50/50 race gas/pump gas mix.

Do you know what compression you're running now? That way we could tell you for sure what would be ideal for you to run

Anytime you advance your timing. Your motor temp will rise. If it starts pinging stop the music. Go up on the octane.

Thanks to everyone who has replyed,

I don't know my compression numbers right off the top of my head but I do know

My head is stock

my cylinders are stock

pistons are stock

And I plan on getting a Vito's Hemi Head for Xmas and I want ot run 21cc domes

with advanced timing of +3 or +4 for some more low end torque

Personally I would run a mix of race gas. I run a 40% mix of Trick 116 and Premium 91. You shouldn't need to run this mix, but really if you break it down a 40% mix in a five gallon jug will cost you about $4 dollars more than running straight 91 octane, pretty cheap insurance. Timing does definitely play a factor in running race gas, most say compression is the only significant factor, but timing has its effects.
