floyd398 Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 Got the OK from the Wife so I just picked up a new 06 white and gray banshee that I ordered from yamaha a couple days ago. I know why buy new, I could have payed half the price for a used, piped banshee. Well I know how people like to beat these things so I wanted new. 4 guys at the yamaha dealership told me 4 different mixtures to run. one said, 20:1, another 24:1, another 30:1 and yet another 32:1. I had a blaster a cr 125 and other 2 stroke bikes and all ran about 32:1 so what should I go for . I know break in should be a little richer but after a tank or 2 then what. The owners manual says 24:1 but that seems too rich? Thanks Anyway for a little belated intro of myself. I'm a mechanic in a family business auto repair shop (Father, Myself and Brother) in NJ I've been a member of the HQ for a while always reading posts and lookin at everyone else's pics ,stories and mods done to there banshees. well after being hit (T-boned)...'Her Fault', 5 months ago on my 98 yamaha fzr 600,that thing was Cherry I was in a wheel chair for 3 months with 2 broken wrists, a broken hip and broken pelvis which now has a titanium plate in it....Yeah I got a special card cause I beep goin through the airport metal detectors now . I thought I'd never be able to ride anything again. I've been ridin all kinds of things since I've been about 5 or 6 and started atving with an 1985 honda atc 70cc which I still have and am restoring as a side project and since about 1988 riding snowmobiles during winter up at Tug Hill NY with family and friends . It feels great to be able to get out and ride again, even though I'm takin it easy for now. So anyway, I picked her up today and already can't wait to start throwing parts on. Thanks again for any suggestions for my fuel mixture. Oh and what weight tranny fluid are you guys runnin... Quote
Gargamel Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 I run 32:1 yamalube other will say different, it all depends on oil used and person opinion so you'll get a few different anwsers here as well. As far as the tranny oil I get Belray 30. Modding the shee to your liking is the fun part Quote
Wallrat Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 32:1 is pretty much the norm. For the tranny I run regular old Castrol GTX 10w-30 and change it after every trip to the dunes. Welcome to the HQ Quote
