wozlost Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 Hey all! I have a 97 Shee that would always run a little crappy, wouldn't idle, and smoke on the right side some. Had cylinders bored and put pistons in. Starts on 1 kick, idles great, but right side smokes and doesn't seem to hit well. I put my hand on the exhaust and the left side pushes a lot out, is hot, and clears up quick. Right side smokes, misses, and at certain rpm pretty much stops putting out. You can hear the left side firing through the exhaust but lean to the right and it very sporadic if at all. I pulled right side wire while running and it died. I shifted the coil wires over and it started and run the same(I didn't think it would start or run unless I actually swapped the wires). I have read all the threads about right side crank seal but why would it not be hot, missfire, or simply not put out at certain rpm? Also, the compression is the same on both sides. It has Kool Head, FMF pipes and silencers, new stator, the carbs have been rebuilt, the jets are at 330 (K/N filter bolted w/lid off), plugs are new, mix is 40:1. Any thoughts or better theory for an ex-Honda/Acura mechanic? Love the Shee but only running on cylinder and half it seems. Enough details? Quote
RNBRAD Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 Your most likely problems is your carbs are out of sink. You need to adjust them equally and most important make sure the slides rise equally as well. Quote
wozlost Posted November 12, 2005 Author Report Posted November 12, 2005 I had the carbs adjusted by a dealer a while back but I haven't checked the slides yet. Thanks, I'll look into it. Quote
kb7kuh Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 I had that same thing happed to me but it was on the left side. Turns out it was the V-force reeds. They were not sealing and it was sucking in too much air. I put the stock reeds back in and it was fine. Hope this helps Quote
hittintrees srh Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 Im also having simmiler problems w/ my right side. Shee starts and idles fine, but the left side pipe warms up a bit faster and does'nt smoke as much. My carbs are in syc. and my jetting is right on. What could it be??? Quote
biggun6ss Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 My guess would be the slides or reeds. It doesn't take but a few minutes to check. Quote
