jeepman137 Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 ok, im planning on asking for a GPS for christmas, for those riding trips, 4x4 adventures, and any other occasion, but it seems like its like buying a cell phone, there are so many models to choose from, with so many features, so i figured i would ask... im looking for a good one, not overly expensive, somthing that wont break easily, and somethign that has good clarity with good features, i found a few on eBay, but since i know nada about GPS systems, its hard to know if its a good price, and which ones are good, and which ones are junk... thanks in advance... jeepman137 Posted November 1, 2005 Author Report Posted November 1, 2005 like this one right here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Magellan-Explorist-200...1QQcmdZViewItem found that on eBay, it looks good, sounds like good features, shock resistance, stuff like that, accuracy within 3 meters, good price it seems like to me, but i just dont know about this stuff... im a firm believer in the quote "you get what you pay for" so i know i dont need some $350 unit, but i dont wanna buy like a $75 gps and have it break the first day... PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 I use an Etrex Legend it does what I need it too and they are fairly reasonable as far as price. Quote

The legend clocks speed and it's right on, I think most do anymore. Quote

PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 its like treasure hunting isnt it? 432111[/snapback] Essentially yes, they give you the coordinates and you go looking for a box, typically an ammo can. They can be hidden well but usually aren't that hard to find. It's taken me to alot of parks and forests that I wouldn't have gone too without a reason. Quote
