Ok, I never had a bike before and I just recently bought a 200o banshee with, FMF pipes, headers, v force reeds, airbox open w/ uni filter and I was wondering how do I know how my bike is jetted? and if I go to the dealer to get it rejetted for the winter how much will that cost? Does that require a kit or is it just an adjustment? The guy I bought it from said it wat jetted and boared but that means nothing to me. Anyone have any pointers so I don't spend unnecessary money or get ripped off at the dealer by my place. I live in north Jersey so it gets to be 20 30 degrees. at leats that is the minimum I will ride in.

PUll the carbs and open the bowl. Your current jetting should be between 280-300 main. I would do a plug chop , see what they look like and take it from there. I only bump mine up one jet size for the winter

Ellison it sounds like he doesn't know how to even pull of his carbs, let alone do a plug chop.

Slime, my advice to you is to check the FAQ's for the Jetting FAQ. Also go out and pick up a clymers manual. The banshee is going to cost you a small fortune if you plan on having a dealership do all the maintenance. Nothing on the banshee is difficult (you can do a full engine teardown/buildup in a weekend). Most jobs take less than 30 minutes. Read the clymers manual a bit to understand the principles behind how an engine works as well as the location and function of the different parts. The jetting FAQ will make alot more sense then.

Slime, the only thing you need to do to rejet is buy some new main jets. 1 for each carb, and they run about 3.50 each normally. Like wallrat said, buy a clymers and do it yourself. You will be damn happy you did!

If you could get someone that is knowledgeable in jetting banshees to help you do it once, I'm sure you could do it yourself the next time. It is not hard at all but figuring it out for the first time by yourself could be tough if you've never done it before. I would post all of the mods on your shee, air box configuration, ect. to get a good jetting reccomendation then post on the HQ to find someone near you that is a pro at banshee jetting and would be willing to show/teach you how for a case of beer or a couple of $'s. Dealerships will screw you, like 2 hrs @ $75/hr for jetting a shee and most of them don't know shit about what size jets to run with what mods so you end up with bad jetting anyway.

Read BenBB's jetting FAQ, ( click here) it is one of the best articles to read on banshee jetting. It will tell you everything you need to know to safely and correctly jet your banshee.

Put the air box lid back on for the winter and it will helpout with out putting in jeys.Less air-more fuel.

While that is true, why would you want to take away the extra air the motor breaths with out the lid. IMO, it's worth the trouble to put in bigger main jets for winter and keep the extra horse power, and rpm's that you get by running with out the lid.

Agreed. I'll put the lid on a bike at night to help with the temp variations from day/night, but for all winter?
