dbkid13 Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 (edited) So I purchased a 96 Banshee at the start of summer and this winter I am going to rebuild it and was wondering what all I need to replace. The orginal owner road it very little and it is still on its orginal top end. My compression is about 122 in each cylinder and it still runs great however I feel its time to redo the top end before its to late. Now my question is can I just replace my rings or am I going to have to by a whole piston kit. I have read that if you do it often enough you can just do the rings. Thanks in advance for your input. ------------Sam By the way it is 100% stock (I bought it for the girlfriend to ride) Edited October 24, 2005 by dbkid13 Quote

suzuki0702 Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 dude thats more than most people have...i would leave it alone. when u compression drops below 110 then rebuild it. rings, pistons, wrist pin bearing, bore/hone job, and inspect your lower end bearings too...but shit ride the piss out of it Quote

dbkid13 Posted October 25, 2005 Author Report Posted October 25, 2005 Sweet, thanks guys, I was just a little scared cause my old banshee was on a 6 year old top end and then when it failed some chucks of piston fell into the lower end making it kinda an expensive rebuild but I guess you cant really avoid thaat. ----------------SAM Quote
