Sandator Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Hello, I think I have finally decided to get a Banshee. However, I think I need some help from this forum. I am 34 and have been riding motorcycles or 4-wheelers for many years. For some time now I wanted to get a banshee, but I am worried about the upkeep compared to a 4-stroke. My current ride is a 2002 400EX (I know, but I had a XR400 before that). I am very happy with it, but my plan is to pass it on to my wife. I have had 2-stroke bikes in the past and I guess I am missing that PUNCH that you get from a smoker. If you can relay to me about reliability issuses that have come about, the average time between rebuilds for a mild motor, and other things that a banshee owner will have to face, it would help me alot. Thanks for putting up with my question......... javascript:emoticon('') smilie Quote
NYUK Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 a mildly ported banshee, done by the right shop will be just as reliable as stock.a banshee has no more normal upkeep than your 400.check for loose nuts and bolts, grease all zerks, oil and make sure the chain has the right amount of play.keep the jetting right for your altitude and temp. make sure you have no intake air leaks and you will be golden. on a 75 hp banshee i have gone 2 years without a rebuild.beating the balls off it weekly. BigRed350x Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 I agree with NYUK. I have a craptor and a warrior and I have less trouble with my banshee's than I do with those two. As long as you take care of them and keep everything adjusted right they are a great bike to have. Just make sure you jetting is right. The Banshee seems to be kinda picky with jetting. Quote
Proquad101 Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Yeah like those guys said, if you do the up-keep on your bike it will last along time. Quote
batoutofshell Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 No nasty valves to have adjusted either, nice and easy to work on when needed Quote

Wallrat Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Plus you can do a full shee rebuild in a long weekend. Try that with a 4 stroke! Quote
