I don't think you are getting screwed for $1750, but for say $2500 to $3000 you could get alot more banshee, one with pipes and other mods. Quote

How much are plastics and decent pipes out of curiosity.... If I decide to go look at it. What should I look for, or ask? Tough decision too.. might be my only banshee I find local for quiet awhile hmmm.. what do you pros think of it for the price and photos... also I'm new to atv's how often is it required the "engine be rebuilt" and what does that entail also. I've heard people tell me about the engine beeing rebuilt do they must have this done or can I just regular maintainance and ride it for years. let me know please, thanks a bunch guys! Quote
Dead Op Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 Pipes *new* go anywhere from 350 to over 600, a two stroke engine like any other has to be rebuilt at some time...When the compression gets low and the bike starts to run like crap...Now you can do the matainnece on it such as clean out the air filter regularly, clean out the carbs, have it jetted properly, and run a good premix to go along and this will reduce your vulnerability to blowing it up. Check the compression regulary and keep checking your plugs, if the bike doenst seem to run right, take the time and check all the possiblities-airleak, missing carb screws, ect...Plastics not shure Fullbores get my pic though they are great, check out their website, When you look at it check the rims, the frame, air filter, tie rods, chain, swinger, hubs, look for blemishes on the engine, look for stripped parts...Best bet would to be to test run it. Usually you can change your rings or pistons every season, but I dont as long as the compression is good 115-135 then you are home free, if a little lower take the head off and get new rings , but while the head is off check the pistons, now if your compression is real low then get the whole 9 yrds-Psistons, rings, pin, Gaskets....I know its alot for you and the other shee-rades will add some stuff but I hope you get what you want...Later man Quote

If it's not got any suprises that were not seen in the picture i'll be getting it tonight. Can't wait till pops gets off with the truck. Wish me non lemon luck. I asked about the compression and all that the guy didn't know though he is just selling it for a friend that lost one of his pawn shops due to katrina. The engines are simple and easy to work one once you have done a few. I can tear down the entire engine and rebuild it without using a clymer any more. Only open it up if I forget a torque spec. You would be much better off to buy a used one. Maybe fine a cheap one in rag shape and spend the extra you saved on some nice parts. 426587[/snapback] i built my banshee for around 4000 running , completely redone no stock suspension parts everythings redone if you really want to see the bike's build pics go here HEEEEERRREEEEEEEE .. personally i think your better buying a blown bike or something really ragged on ...... we all know that the banshee hasnt changed since 87 ? so mine as well by a 1993 and re do it how you want . buy the cheapest bike you can and re do it . estimated blown cost for a bike 1500 ? re do the engine for 1500 and u got ureself a bike that will blow ure pants off . lol just my 3 cents. It actually looks better than the pics a little.. but damn did it fly i got up into about 3-4rth gear and couldnt get higher and it freaked me out lol. Quote

Gonna ride 'er for a little while then start modding the sucker. I can't decide though I kinda like the blue and white oem yamaha original body kits or maybe a solid black body kit with the rest powder coated? If so where's a good place to get a body kit/aftermarket--ebay? or want ads here? Brand? I really like yours too. Reason I kind of want a black body kit is because all our cars and trucks are black with chrome rims etc and black trailer. What's the guys turnaround on the powdercoating? Also I might go ahead and get my frame done while i'm at it. How much does the full frame run, rough guess? I defin. want to lose the spray paint soon. Quote
[email protected] Posted October 22, 2005 Report Posted October 22, 2005 he charged me 200 for the frame , and that was a 3 coat process cuz i wanted the base coat a metallic flake all the other parts i had done was 130 , and belive me i gave him a shit load of work to do . turn around time was 1 week in his hands . the only down side to it is shipping it , but it was only 60 bucks to ship using fed ex . from miami . if you do decide to get the work done thru him tell him the miami kid with the green banshee ( chase ) sent you , he told me he would take care of my friends for now on. maybe cheaper prices i dont know . And he can do custom paint jobs ( base coats differnt before applying pearl ) cool as shit . i told him i wanetd my bike to look differnt as far as it being just another green bike and hes like we can add flake to it . I wouldn't buy it plain and simple...When I was looking for a new banshee I planned on spending over 5k....I looked a litlle bit and found this 01 sat in my friends basement for years....Had 2 hours on engine! Came with FMF pipes, Boost Bottle, K&N, Since then I put rad valves on it and Painted a lot of misc stiff on her...I am redoing it this winter pc the frame, bumpers, coolheads bigger carbs, bigger radiator, and maybe new rims..and body stuff....Anyway I just took my time and got it for 1900....I have been offered 3700 by a close friend before too!
