ogre03 Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 After about three weeks of running my new banshee (it's an 03') the top end went out. It had "new pistons" I'm guessing the guy who put the new pistons in had no idea what he was doing, or maybe he re-ringed a sh*tty piston and sold it. Either way, I'm the guy who bought it, and I now have the thing tore apart and am about to put a new top end on it. Just out of curiosity what can I do to it that will make an impact on it H/P wise that I can do at home? Polish stuff with my dremel? I've heard some way of doing a timing advance at home, is this worth doing? Is it a risky thing to try for an amature? Also, while it's apart would it be worth it to get the head shaved? I live in alaska right now (army) and the gas sucks. I don't want to cause detonation and fry my engine. Quote
2strokesmoke Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 you could port the reed cages it will improve your air flow and throttle response it is a cheap way to get a little more performance give me your email and i will send you a step by step on it Quote

rocketboy Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 ive seen test after test of porting the stock cages doing nothing power-wise on a dyno ,ive done a few sets and never noticed any gains in power or response , i wouldnt waste my time fiddiling around with them . Quote
endofitall9 Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 on the contrary on planet sand there is a dyno of ported cages with tdr reeds i do believe that were running up there with the v-forces, as some people would say maybe it all in how the motor is setup. If i was you man I'd do it I bet you'll see and notice a difference. just search and it will bring up some links. Quote
rocketboy Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 yes i ve seen the reed test chart and thread many times .these were the thinnest carbon tdr reeds ,ever think maybe it was just that they are really good replacement reeds?????they werent the best either were they? to each his own the vforce design doubles cfm ,you can chop up and grind the stock cage all yo u want and its the reed petals and the cages basic design that do all the flowing into your cylinders. 4mill Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 You can also run a double base gasket it helps. Quote
