O.K. Went to go out riding and after I started it and let it warm up, I put it in gear and hit the throttle and it just bogs. Come to find out that the right side is not firing. I put new plugs and check for spark and it was there. Started it again and pulled the spark plug cap off and no change with it connected or disconnected. Still just bogs with no power but continues to run on one cylinder. Also pulled the right side carb and checked for any clogging and there was none to be seen. Also the carb was full of gas so I'm thinking it aint fuel. Also on the right side exhaust it would smoke a little and when I pinned the throttle it would make a "pfftttt" sound kinda like an small backfire?? Any ideas or help would be great. Oh, the air filter is clean. Thanks

Did you check to see if the choke crossover tube is still connected between the carbs? :shrugani: Happened to me one time and my shee acted the same way. Have you swapped your coil wires to see if it acts the same?

Yeah, the crossover is connected, that bit me before... If it has spark and fuel, could it be the reed has gone bad on that one side?? Just trying to get a heads up before tearing into it tonight. Any thought's would help thanks.

Same thing happened to my banshee a couple times. V-force II's right side kept breaking the upper middle reed. The only other time that happened the ring ends butted together, And got stuck.

Before you tear it apart, check the obvious...parking brake wires, TORS, etc. If those are unplugged or gone, switch plug wires from right to left and see if the problem remains on the right side. That might rule out an electrical issue.

I've seen two cases of this problem (excluding absent choke tubes): one was a faulty right carb. I replaced the carb with a spare and fixed the problem (don't know what was wrong with the carb.) The other problem was my reeds. They weren't broken, but I had dropped a tiny hose clamp in there and it had one of the reeds wedged open, constantly flooding my cylinder at idle. You may be right about the broken/damaged reed being the problem.

I like the switching of the spark plug wires, that is a good one. I still have the TORS connected but I disconnected the parking brake. I will try that switch tonight before getting into it. Thanks

O.K. I feel like such a dumb ass... Well I started looking into the problem. rechecked crossover and it was connected, switched wires on the plugs and same problem. Pulled off the right side carb and pulled the reeds and they looked fine. Installed some new boyesen power reeds. Did this to both sides and fire it up and still bogging hard when i hit the throttle. Start looking at the TORS thinking I should eliminate these cause I hear it causes alot of problems, put the elim kit on order. Look back at the parking brake and the whole assembly was loose enough to pull back when applying the p-brake and when I released it to get it off the trailer it had stayed pulled back. Pushed that f-er back into place and jumped back on and the shee fired rightup. Hit the throttle and no more bogging. I can't believe I missed such a simple fix, but the good thing is I got some new reeds installed and learned another lesson.
