i12gofast Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 Still shopping for an exhaust here....looking for the biggest bang for the buck for where/how I ride.... Are the LRD's worth it? Seems like a pig top end power increase.... And for somene contemplating porting, are they compatible or should I go with T5's or FMF SST's and Titanium Silencers. Quote
Banchetta Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 Depends on YOUR type of riding and what your doing w/ it. Do you plan on major mods later? Looking for low end grunt w/ a wide powerband for woods or just high rev screaming peak power for top end? There is no ONE good pipe for everyone. Quote
hittintrees srh Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 If your lookin for "bang for the buck". And you also plan on porting. T5's mite be a better choise. IMO. Quote
race-a-holic Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 I like the looks of the LRD's.Never tried them though.I use shearer pipes.Mine's ported and on alcohol. This past weekend,my wife and I went to an atv park.We done alot of just riding. We did our fair share of racing though.People couldn't believe i go on trails with it,but I do.Not saying other pipes wouldn't be better for trails, but it pulls extremely hard from mid-range to top-end.For the best performance,I'd try either cpi's or shearer. sycoracer911 Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 vcatv.com makes a phantom pipe that is almost like the lrd.... might be cheeper too... check them out Quote
rocketboy Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 id run toomeys T5 instead if it were me ,if its gonna get heavy mods like porting and such id look into shearers then Quote
Justintoxicated Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 (edited) Fattys are cheaper than T5's so that would be my choice... Bang for the buck right? Fatty make more power on a stock motor allt he way untill the top, then T5 makes a little more. Fattys also work very well with porting but toomy makes a better silencer. Tooms also have a better chrome plating than FMF's Nickle plating which blows IMO. For porting go with CPI's or shearers. I like the shearers but they are like the Fattys finish wise (only they are single cheaply chromed rather than just plated) compaired to the chrome on the CPI's from what I have sceen, also shearers make more top than CPI's, but I'm really thinking about going with CPI's cause I don't think I will have to rev the motor quite as much to get into the power which should make it easier for me to dune. Finish on the pipes is not performance, but I'm kinda pissed cause my Fattys are starting to get rust spots which makes tehm look like hell...Course the year after i got my fatys is when they increased the quality of their plating so the newer ones are likely a bit better than mine.. Dunno about LRD's.... Edited October 6, 2005 by Justintoxicated Quote
Ducman Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 A builder that is local to me sells and uses LRD's on his shee. He claims they are the best pipe to increase overall power from the bottom end all the way to top end and he has an insane dyno curve on his bike, power comes on early and revs out at dune port type RPMS (around 9k) tops out at 78 HP on stock stroke, ported stock cylinders and its not even a drag port, more of an MX port. His banshee is a sand only play/drag banshee. Basically they are a kick ass pipe, very high quality, and work well with porting, but they are not as common and cost a few more $ than most others. They are a very nice looking pipe. I'm not sure if you can put a spark arrestor on them due to the turned down nozzels. They also have a very nice sound and are I'd say a slight bit quieter than the average banshee pipe. Quote
KoStOnE Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 My brother has lrds on his banshee and it whips. I think there nice all around pipes from speed to power. Id rather have LRDS over fmfs but thats just my opinion. Quote
fastbanshee4u Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 best bang for the buc is Pro Circuits, and yes I have owned most brands .And smoked many brands, even T-5s all the time. Quote
