snowprophet1 Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Go with the templates. Low end was at least as good as stock, and everything else really made a noticable difference. You will need heavier clutch springs, which cost about $8 back when I did it. Some things you need to compare to side by side, but you can feel the difference, no doubt. They say it is optional to raise the transfers to their spec, (which I did), and I also matched the case to the cylinders, which helps. I bought about $700+ worth of porting tools back about 12 years ago, and I use them alot. The right angled tool is expensive, but necessary to do it right. The template setup is great if you still want to trail ride and race your buddies. If you want a little more power later, there are some changes you can make later if so desired, but is a little more "aggressive", which makes it a little harder to handle in the trails, but still trailable, just a little nutsier. Do the template job and you won't regret it. The owner of the template place is a great guy, and I delt w/him many times, and is very helpful. Quote
BigRed350x Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 this is off subject but HTF? just curious. ive never seen it or even heard of that 421246[/snapback] I had a small raditor that I put in the front the frame, above the top a-arm supports. It slanted back at a little less of an angle than the stock radiator. Ran from the water pump to the new rad, out of that one and into the stock one, out of the stock one and into the head. Worked great, but probably the gayest lookign thing ever done to a banshee. Quote

super88_banshee Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 My dad did mine and his. The low end was helped a little, but not tremendously. The top end screams and doesn't quit pulling. The first trip after getting the motor broken in, it shattered a few of the friction plates in the clutch! Just make sure your hangin on Quote
fiveOnick Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 (edited) For the price of the tool you can have someone else port it, ha thats funny. $800 dollars will get you in the door with a real porting tool, christ my bits are 30 dollars a piece. How can you really expect to shape transfer tunnels with a dremel or a similiar motor. My flex shaft is 1/3hp whats a dremel? The 90degree cutter to shape and raise transfers is about 400 dollars alone, just pay someone else. Another thing I bet a degree wheel is cheaper than those templates, and maybe you will actually learn something if you can use one. Edited October 4, 2005 by fiveOnick Quote
