ScrewMachine Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Do a search... But seriously....aviation fuel for 55 cents cheaper then unleaded?? I'm a pilot, and I've never seen that. Which airport? Not calling you a liar, but this is extremely hard to believe. Maybe they f'd up posting the price?? Quote
Proquad101 Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 The av-gas is anywhere from 100 octane to 120 octane low lead, you can run it in anything. If it's cheaper I say use it. I use jet-a in my diesel truck because I have a bunch of it I drained from our helicopter and it's free. Quote

Ducman Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 100LL is actually like 101 octane by R+M/2 ratings and is much more clean burning than auto pump fuel. The price is probably low because prices are typically raised as new deliveries of fuel come in, so it probably wont be cheap for very long. It is typically more expensive than primium pump fuel. I'd get u some. Quote
SANDSTAR Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Sometimes the fuel station guys at muni airstrips are a little slow on changing the signage. If the actual pump says it's cheaper, RUN home and get as many 55 gal drums as you can and fill them up. Avgas is great stuff. Quote

batoutofshell Posted September 2, 2005 Author Report Posted September 2, 2005 thanks gents I apreciate the answers. I am going to go tommorrow its a small airport in Griffith,In. they don't sell much fuel and it wasn't posted I just drove by the pumps. i only have 4- 5gal cans wish I had a 55 gal drum. oil mix the same? I am assuming Quote
Proquad101 Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 The only bad thing is they can get in trouble for selling fuel to somebody that is not going to put the av-gas in a airplane, so make sure they are cool before you just walk up there and say "filler up". Quote
Big Blue Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 The local airport will sell as long as it is for off road use. They wont let you pull up in your vehicle and fill up. At night you could may be able to get buy with it since it is pay at the pump. Quote
