Anyone got any advice? I was running it a couple days ago and it ran fine, but yesterday it was kinda hesitating right before the power band. I blamed it on crappy gas. But now the left cylinder is barely running. I put new plugs in it, drained all the gas out and replaced it with new. Still nothing. I'm getting spark, so my next guess is to pull that carb and clean it all out real good, make sure nothing is plugged up. Any other advice? Thanx for the help banghead

my question to you is, do you have pod filters? i had pod filters and one of them was plugged with mud bad enough to not allow enough air through it. try running your shee without any airfilter just for a minute and see if that cleans it up. make sure its just for a ride up the rode or something. don't go through a mudhole without an airfilter

respond to my post in here. no prob. ok, does the left cylinder plug look burned at all? if it still looks clean, but is wet then it sounds like its not getting any spark. try pulling the plug boots off and switching them around. then start it and see if the problem goes to the other cylinder. if so then you probly have a bad ignition coil

I guess it would be of some help to tell people what I'm running. The engine is stock, it's got pipes and a foam filter with no box. It's got a filter skin on it and the filter and skin are oiled with maxima foam filter oil. It's a single filter though, so if it was the filter it should be effecting both sides.

do you feel the exhaust pulse out of both pipes adn are they bout the same amt. if not i would look at your reeds on that side like ellison said

it doesn't want to idle, but if i give it a fair amount of gas it sounds halfway decent, not great ofcourse, but like you said, there is way more exhaust pressure coming out of the right side (the good one) than the left. If I rev it up pretty good the left one will feel like the right one does at idle.

how old is the 'shee? it might be getting to be about that time to rebuild, just a thought

it's an '03 I've only had it for about a month, but it's suposed to have a new top end. Of course, that may very well be B.S. , But it was running strong, then just kinda went to hell. I've got to work for 24hrs tomorrow (go army!) But when I get a chance maybe that next afternoon I'm going to pull my reed cages and look at them. What should I look for? I'm pretty new to working on two strokes.

I have a 99 and mine was running like shit too. The left side was acting really weird. Everyday it seemed to do somethig different. Check your compression becasue I lost my top end. Onc eI did that it ran beeter but not great all I have to do now is check the reeds so if I was you I would do what everyone suggested and check the reeds. If you find the problem let me know so I can fix mine

Well, I pulled my reed cage it seems fine.  I don't know much about 2 strokes, so I'm not sure what to look for, but they are closed, and uniform.  Any other ideas?
