reded Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 Does anyone know where I can find a 44t aluminum sprocket that fits a Honda 250R hub? Biggest I can find is a 43. Quote

MonkeyBoy Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 Usually the chain will not break unless it is old and stretched, but I have seen it. Usually wipes out the case too. Quote
dajogejr Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 True enough...Loco. However, I think you'll agree..it's an overall factor. The less a chain streches, the less you have to adjust it. Also...the less it stretches, the longer your sprockets will wear...too! Unless I owned one pretty ass dune or race machine, I'll always run steel sprockets. They weigh a little more...but...they last for a long ass time....that's for sure! That being said, I ended up with an X Ring DID chain that I'm very happy with. I haven't had to adjust it in the last few rides at all, just keepin her clean and lubed... Quote
reded Posted August 8, 2005 Author Report Posted August 8, 2005 Ive had it happen on bikes...and it ain't pretty. Usually knocks out the shift shaft and the cases. Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 Ive had it happen on bikes...and it ain't pretty. Usually knocks out the shift shaft and the cases. 402487[/snapback] I was behind a YZ250 that tossed a chain due to an over looked adjusting bolt. It did exactly that. Ripped the shifter off of the shift shaft right after it bent the shift shaft to 90 degrees. Had to use a 3" cut off to get started on getting it out of there. Fortunatly it didn't wad up under the cases. Had very little damage there for some reason. Quote
dajogejr Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 Broke one on my 85 quad racer, mid air...locked up. Luckily I was in sand or it might've hurt. Ripped the "Sprocket gaurd" right off. left me with a 1/2 hole where one of the bolts used to mount. New cases? Nope...a little sheet metal and JB weld and I was on my way again... Ahh...to be young stupid again... Quote
BdBanshee Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 If you ride much at all stay away from aluminum sprockets. Quote
