biggun6ss
Will the loss of support using the clamp ons break your intakes?
05bansh
Not that I have ever heard of or ever had problems with.
VinceDizzy
No, the clamp on filters dont weigh enough to cause any damage to the rubber boots. Ive had mine ever since i got my shee in 02, and no damage to the boots yet I think the only way you can damage those things is careless removal of the carbs. But when you install the clamp ons make sure that nothing rubs against the filters. The brakets for the airbox, i ground them off cause they were rubbin. Also remember NO WATER OR MUD riding with those type filters Edited August 4, 2005 by VinceDizzy
Ducman
ditto on grinding off the stock airbox mounts, almost wrecked a K&N pod on the left side and did wreck an outerwear. Manifold boots will be fine even with larger carbs using pods.
80overShee
Its not the weight of the pods that breaks the boots, its the fact that the carbs and filters are only supported by the boot itself. The airbox mounts to the frame and gives it more than ample support. I've noticed my boot has a bit more flex to it now that I have had pod filters on for just over a month. Original boots on an 87 that were near perfect are nearing replacement time.
