FOXBANSHEE30 Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 I'm not sure what the deal is but i was tryin to replace the rear brakes and i got them in but now when i hit the pedal and i have nothin. The piston in the caliper does nothin and fluid squirts out where the p-brake is. The cable is gone so it doesent work but the little assembley is still there. Will a parking brake block off pad remedy this and make the piston move out?? Thanks for the help. MEADOWS. Quote
quad4me Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 some people dont even run a blockoff...so my gues is NO! you must have a broken caliper for it to be leaking where the Pbrake used to be. not 100% certain though....mine never leaked when I had it apart without the block off. Quote
FOXBANSHEE30 Posted July 30, 2005 Author Report Posted July 30, 2005 so should seals and a block off be a good start to remedy my problem?? I know the piston isnt gummed up because i took it apart and it slides in and out relatively easy. I cant figure out what it is. Could there be air in it? I need some help. MEADOWS. Quote
trex banshee Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 i would make shure that your bleeder is closed that might be where your fluid is comming from. yes there will be air in your line especially if you have fluid comming out you will have to bleed them. Quote
FOXBANSHEE30 Posted July 30, 2005 Author Report Posted July 30, 2005 i got a blockoff and not he fluid just comes around it. Is it supposed to have a gasket that goes on it?? I put some sealant around it and im givin it time to set and cure. Thanks for teh help. MEADOWS. Quote
locogato11283 Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 bad seal id say. might be cheaper and easier to buy a used rear caliper than to rebuild yours. Quote
