ledofthezep Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 For future reference, try the 'repairs & mods' section for a quicker & better response. Perhaps a mod will migrate this post there for ya... Also, mods & info on the bike(never too much) will help too. I'd start with the simple shizzle...clean air filter? tried cleaning the carbs? Jetting? How's the plugs look? Done a compression check by chance? Welcome to the HQ! Quote
Dunsmoor86 Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 I would say you need to change your piolet. What size do you have in it right now? Quote
sheefreak Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 If everything simple checks out as led suggested, that is a good sign of low compression, also something to check is to make sure you didn't put the float bowls on wrong carbs if it has been happening since the last time you had them off. They are labeled 1-1 and 1-2. 1-1 needs to be on the choke side carb. Good luck, and welcome to the HQ. Quote
Duneking Posted July 15, 2005 Author Report Posted July 15, 2005 thanks for all the info, I'm going to try a compression check and see what that tells me. does anyone know the ft/lbs of compression of a stock banshee. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 Should be 120 psi in each cylinder at sea level, respectively. You mainly want to look for a variation in compression between the two cylinders, like if you get 110 in one and 90 in the other....time for a top end rebuild. If you have more than 10 psi difference between the two cylinders, it's time for a rebuild....or, if your compression is below 100, than it's time for a rebuild Quote
hittintrees srh Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 try cleaning your carbs, dont be affrade to hose them f**kers out with carb cleaner! your pilot is probably clogged. cover the basics before you start tearing it down. good luck! Quote
