Attention New York Riders

Recommended Posts

The Letter is titled:

Pataki and ATVs

I read, with interest, that Pataki toured the area on an ATV. This brings several questions to mind. Was the ATV registered and insured? Did he wear a helmet? If he happened to tread on private property, did he have written and signed permission to be there? Or did he ride on the state trails designated for ATV use? I guess that would be impossible, as there are none. ATV registrations have just seen a $15 increase that is supposed to go to a designated trail fund. Oops, that will be next year! Surprise, it goes to the general fund this year.

No happy trails for ATVs. Pataki, and his policies, are a joke. Casinos will bail us out. I first heard that over 30 years ago. While taxes rise and fiscal waste continues, casinos are still thankfully absent.

We are pinning our hopes to the casinos here in Connecticut as well.Maybe cheif Ten Bears will open up a track sometime soon.Don't get me wrong I love Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun but it seems like in order to get out of debt we need to treat them with kid gloves. We used to milk cows ,now we milk New Yorkers!no offense.

All ATV reg. $$ gets dumped into our general fund as well so you're not alone.

F that schnizzle, snowmobiles are expensive, and really the only people who benifit from the snowmobile trails are people who live up north. You are right tho, when theres snow on the ground, NY is awesome for snowmobilers. I just found out my grandparents house is located ON a trail system that reaches into canada. DAMN :whoa: I guess Im gonna have to check into the used snowmobile market

i hear ya ryan, ny is only a good place to ride if you own a snowmobile. I will never, ever, register a atv in Ny, as long as i live here, because your just throwing your money away, the money doesent go to trails, and i dont know where the hell it is, but not back to atv'rs. Ny is a screw state when it comes to that. Good find jt.

i herd it is 100 bucks to register a snowmobile IF you are NOT part of a snowmobile club. IF YOU ARE part of a snowmobile club then its 45. WHY? i have no fucking idea. as far as ATVS go. here in upstate NY (WAYY UPSTATE) we have alot of trails and cops dont bother us at all. u can ride on roads and it towns. as long as your not fucking of obviosuly. so ihave no problem registering my atv. the people and police have really been good about things. sorry to hear about everyones bad luck.

I think its cheaper when in a clube due to the fact that the clubs maitainand groom the sled trails - JT

P.S. I didint write that jsut everyone knows.

exactly. being in a club promotes riding in a group, and those types of groups are typically very environmentally aware.

thats one good side to backasswards OK. we had to start registering new ATv's 13 days ago, july 1. well they can fuck off, as long as i got the homey hookup with the largest dealer in the state, im taken care of. :headbang:

ryan made the comment about sleds: shit if it snowed more than once every two years here id have one. sleds look like a ton of fun.

but what about boonmans ban-ski? could you register that as a custom snowmobile, and then join a club for the cheaper fees as well as killing two birds with one stone??
