mudcool Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 I am riding Banshee just recently, and I hear people talking from time to time to not ride in some ways because you might foul a plug or two for example. For instance, some say you have to hit the power band at least once for every mile you ride. I mean you can always ride in such ways without hitting the powerband, would this cause some problems over time. Some say rest it for five minutes for every ten minutes of riding you do. Basically I would like to hear from experts and the real experienced. How to ride her right, and what riding styles to aviod. What are the anticipated problems over time incase you ride her the wrong styles. Thanks. Chris Quote
superchicken Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 yeah im with him run the hell out of it.but on a serious note,ill scream her till no end but the one thing i dont do is at a high rpm,and high speed,i dont just let off the gas and use the engine to brake my speed.ive found that it washes down the cylinders and is no good for a two stroke engine,for example, your in the power band pretty good and suddenly let off.your engine it screaming at say 9000 rpm's and you let off the throttle,now your only pulling in gas,and oil at your closed throttle position.witch is significantly less than your mains.it can wash down your jugs to the point of no oil and gas in them for lubrication.other than that let er rip,.thats a way of telling if your engines gonna hold up. MILO Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 (edited) If properly tuned, you should be able to ride it however you want. 388804[/snapback] very true. i run mine wide open periodically, and put around periodically. i don't ride balls to the wall all the time, and never foul plugs while riding. but u don't want to stay out of the pwr band too long, or you may foul plugs. little blips and quick bursts here and there have worked fine for me when riding with slower guys. on the other hand, i don't hold it wot for long either, i don't want to find out where the cut off is by blowing my top end. keep it jetted properly, fuel mixed right, things cleaned up and lubed up, and you should be able to ride fast, slow, in between or whatever. just mix it up a little and you'll be fine. or like i said before, just run the shit out it, if your up for it. by the way, i never heard of resting 5 for every 10 min's of riding. if everything is in good shape and you do run it enough to let it breathe and keep cool, unless it starts to overheat, just ride. crbanshee Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 air box air box air box..i cant say it enough keep that air filter clean..thats your biggest thing right there..i ride fast slow hard soft any way you feel comfortable just ride..and never let your bike sit in storage with cas in the carbs,,i found out they dont like that either...but keep in mind the banshee is a high rev machine and loves to go fast for long periods of time..i run mine wide open 6th gear untill i think its going to explode and then back off for a few and right back to full out 6th..just perform regular service on it change plugs and fluids and you will be fine Quote
