Hi guys/girls!

Glad to be able to join this brilliant site! I am writing form Namibia (Africa) and have std banshee. Have now bought new Maxxis Surtak's - hopefully that can help with the duning...i will upload pic's soon to show you guys what REAL dunes look like.

One question though: without pipes(for the moment), how can i increase my power? bymeans of jetting? - we rare at sea-level. If so, what size jets and can i do airbox conversions?

:bolt: tks :bolt:

Changing the jets doesn't give you more power. It compensates or corrects the ratio for the air fuel/ratio for any changes from stock. You will need to rejet if you change either of these. If you add pipes the air is able to exit the motor better. If you do anything to change incoming or outgoing air (ie. open air box, high flow filter, bigger carbs, porting, reeds, larger jugs) you will rejet. You should do a plug chop anytime you change anything on your bike just to be safe.

There are many things that you can do to increase your power, any of the items above plus a new head, or a stroker are nice mods. It just depends on how deep your pocket go. I bet you have some awsome dunes to shred up. Anyway good luck....................

The quickest cheapest mod (basically free except for buying 2 new main jets) I can think of would be to cut the back 2 inches (50mm) off the air box lid to alow for better air flow. You want to keep the back 2 clips on the lid so that the lid can still be securred with all 4 clips. You should go up to about a 220 to 230 main and turn the air screws in 1/2 to 1 turns to richen up the idle if needed. An aftermarket adapter plate with clamp on filter is better, then you can remove the air box lid completely, and the stock filter has a somewhat unreliable seal against the front of the airbox. I used to use grease on the front ring of the filter for a little extra insurance that it would make a better seal and wouldn't suck any dirt around the front of the filter.. Another free mod is to modify the stock timing plate to get +3 timing advance. If you do a search on "timing plate mod" you will find detailed instructions on how to do this. It is also 100% free if you have the tools available to remove the flywheel and grind or file the timing plate mounting holes.

1st thing any banshee owner should do, take the snorkel off the front of the airbox!

No rejetting if all you do is remove the snorkel, it is jetted a little rich from the factory anyway.

Man, someone should look into what it would cost to ship him a set of pipes........

air filters if you do only dunning and no water riding i would go with the k&n clamp on kit helps it breath 10 times more around 50-70 bucks here in the u.s. dont know about africa though

I agree. If you are just riding dunes in dry conditions I would put some pod filters on. They seem to flow a lot more than with the airbox on. You will have to rejet.

Tks man! If only i could find oiutr what they cost your side, then i can bring them in with DHL. (the money i can send via a bank transfer. i have seen on a website the toomey 6 pipe with all filters and jets for USD 699.00 - that is more or less NAD 4900.00 our side.

plse let me know if possible at all?

furthermore, have meanwhile recieed my MAXXI'S (Surtrax), and are raring to go soonest. will definitely take some pics this w/end and ost it here. The MAXXI'S are only 2-ply rated as we only do duning and there are no dangers of punctures - this also makes the a bit lighter...

namshee, welcome to the HQ, always good to have a fellow African onboard.

I've ordered many parts online to South Africa, not a problem at all.

Expect to pay some for shipping and duties!

To beat the other guys up Dune 7 you definately need some rockets...

K&N filters can be ordered from Speedbike or ATV Powersport in South Africa.

Hook up at quadtorque.co.za for some local news, a couple of Namib guys are allready there!

I have a 2000 Banshee, I added a pic in the image forum specially for you

FMF Fatties / K&N in the box, no lid / V-Force II reeds / Pro Design Coolhead 20cc / PD stator plate at +4 / Billet water pump impeller / +2 A-arms and some other secrets... ;)

I bought the pipes from Alba , (<==Click) a few years ago, can't remember the price or the shipping, but it was much cheaper than local suppliers.

You can ask around at quadtorque.co.za, they have a for sale section, I'm sure you'll get sorted there.
