1000dollabill Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 well, it all starts here: http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...topic=44842&hl= bought this turd a couple weeks ago, nice kid, but what a rip coil ground wire was rigged, wound up cooking the coil. carb slide was glued on with silicon, top stripped, carbs kept coming out of sync. put a trinity 2-1 carb kit on, replaced coil took her to the dunes. i shit you not, 3 minutes at the dunes clutch is smoked. yep, internal adjustment is way off on the clutch. put a new clutch in in the parking lot, oh that was fun. mix and matched bolts everywhere, some of them were metric. clutch basket had a stripped hole, so instead of using the long ass stupid bolt that was in it, i had to slam a standard in it. ran for a whole day and a half before more problems, not to mention the walmart gasless shocks on the front, oh those were fun. losing the rigged up kicker was a riot as well. get home from the dunes only to find coolant in the trans. pop the cover, great. how did i miss the jb weld on the inlet for the water pump. that's right, i was super pissed off when doing the clutch. guess i'm the only one that believes jb weld is for non pressurized fixes only. apparently the proper bolt was in that stripped hole before the super long one and came winging out and cut a nice groove around the whole cover including the inlet for the pump. the cut goes straight through right where the o ring seats so that got chewed up rather quickly. of course the jb weld was peeling off as well. every bolt had vibrated loose, any i do mean every one of them. as it stands right now i need a new clutch cover, new front shocks, a case of locktite, and a whole bottle of friggin aspirin. oh, and paint too. the rattle can customs job now looks like this turd has leperacy. what next? I now have to rip the whole bike apart, try and put metrics back in it, and USE LOCKTITE. so anybody want to sell me some newer stock front shocks and a clutch cover? hope you spent my money wisely kid, cause i could sure use it now! she'll be nice when i'm done. at least i'll never be a first time banshee buyer again. rptorman Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 You shoulda got a tube of lube with that bike, cause you took it in the hole. If your still in the area, ask him about getting some money back. Quote

1000dollabill Posted June 6, 2005 Author Report Posted June 6, 2005 oh, well. you live and you learn. i know he'll get his. I wouldn't kick his ass anyway. kid got 2grand for a rolling turd, good for him. it just sucks it was my money. but like i said, i don't like to half ass anything so she'll be tight when i've got way to much money into her. but at least i'm confident with MY work. team FSR.... that one stumps me..... wonder what it stands for? I've got my own ideas on that one. by the way, him and his brother found my broke down turd by our trucks at silver lake. My buddy apperently told him it was a damn good thing i was at duneland buying more parts. and they never stopped by again..... Quote

BigCP Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 man i hate that for you i really do and it has happened to me on two occasions where i thought i was gettin a really good deal but, ended up gettin shafted. Confronting them about it wouldn't be a bad idea at all i confronted one of my bikes previous owners after the fact i just dropped like 2 grand in just parts on top of what i paid for the bike initially. STLBILL Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 Now I remember why I bought a new Banshee instead of a used one. I'm thinking that poor Banshee found the new owner it desparately needed! I would need a lot of help to fix all that stuff. Before recommending an a$$ kicking I'd have to hear the other side of the story, but if he did it on purpose he will get it back soon enough. Quote
1000dollabill Posted June 7, 2005 Author Report Posted June 7, 2005 honestly, i think the kid thought he had a piece of gold. little did he know it was a brass plated pile of poo. he had reciepts for recent work done... by a shop. what ever shop that was, probably needs to be set a blaze. he and his brother seemed to handle cosmetics, while someone else tranformed this bike into the pride of redneck engineering. i could be wrong, but i'd like to think he was just naive. yes it's irritating, but what can you do? i've sold many cars, trucks and motorcycles and they are always as is. i dont expect money back, or anything of that nature. i only wish i had known the mess i was getting into. luckily, these are much easier to work on and diagnose than say, my old super coupe. i have a gift for buying lemons, what can i say. but at least compression is good, as he stated. i guess that's a start. and for those guys that think he needs an ass whooping.... remember when you were 16-17? headlight covers, window tint, sound system, and rims took presidence over brakes and oil changes. next banshee i buy will be owned and operated by a 100 year old man, that is if i dont wind up in the poor house after this debacle. so next time you see me at the dunes, i'll be sitting on my $2000 lawn chair... but damn i'll look cool. so..... who's got some cheap parts!!!!???? twin2smoker Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 I had the same thing happen to me, I got it off ebay right, this was before I knew anything about shees. I was ridden it and seemed ok until I dragged my brother 400ex and got beat. So i take it to my friend who later ripped me off, found that there were no spacer between the clutch plates, the basket was knotched to hell, a gear in the tranny was missing a tooth or two, the cranck was f'd up, and they rebuilt the dang thing with one set of rings, the jugs were so f'd up. Let me see oh, every bearing in the quad was shot, The only thing good was the T-5 but my friend did alot of work for me and ripped my off so I think I dealt with two turds Quote
sheefreak Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 Sorry to hear about your luck, but hopefully you'll get it all straightened out and I will see you at Silver Lake. Quote
