RaceDave Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 Hello, I'm new to this site and I love it already! I have learned a lot so far from reading everyone's posts. Thanks I have a 2001 Bashee with the following: 18cc Pro Cool Head Cylinder Porting by Rudy Kurtz mid-2-top power porting V-Force 3 Reeds Ricky Stator 200watt stator & Advance Plate Ricky Stator Flywheel Toomey T-5 Pipes Vertex pistons, rings, pins, pin bearings-stock bore (the cyl.'s are perfect) I will be running 110 octane fuel ( a friend runs the above but with stock carbs) I plan to install the above parts in about 3 weeks when my cylinders return Here is my Question? Which carbs should I run? I have been told to run the Keihin 34mm PJ's from team alba. And to run their intake's & intake boots. But I am also hearing that I should run 30's, 33's or even the stock carbs? I'll pulling my hair out trying to pick a set of carbs out I ride Pismo, and some Dirt Trail Riding. Also which are better Keihin's or Mikuni's? Which are easier to tune? Any shops you suggest to buy from? Thanks for any help you can offer! Dave Quote

switchblade Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 It depends on how much money you want to spend. You could run your stock crabs and have no problems. IF you wanted to get new carbs I would go with the 30mm ones from carb parts warehouse on ebay for around two hundred. They use the same body as a kehien. Quote
white trash Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 I would go at least 33 MM if not 35 MM. Your bike will run with the stockers, but you will not see the added benifits of your new motor. The 30's would be okay, but they are gonna have a lot less top end than the 33's would, on the other hand with the 30's your gonna have better low end, and throtle response. It looks like your going after a top end machine so big carbs would suit you well. I also would go with the keihins. Majority of the people here are running them with no complaints. You also have the benifit of having a mass of people around that are familiar with tuning them when the time comes. just my .02 Quote

The 34mm would be a perfect setup for you. Oh, and by they way, I have some for sale, see my sig... Quote
