Been thinking of upgrading the shocks on my truck.Whats the difference between the hydro and the nitro? Also considering an exhaust, looking for better performace, not worried about the sound.Theres a few different styles, single stock style exit, dual straight, dual side, double stock style exit.I never realized there were that many to choose from.Let me know what you guys think.

This is for a Silverado 1500 4.8.

As far as exhaust styles, I'd definately go with dual straight. That's what I'll be getting on my truck eventually. I straight piped it the first week I got it. It'll go great with the duals on the 'Shee :headbang:

Nitrogen shocks are the ONLY way to go. I put nice Rancho 9000x shocks on my truck, and paid a lot for them. They're hydraulic shocks. Over time, I got sick of the bucking the truck was doing, so I called a shop that specializes in my truck, SuperdutyHeadquarters.com. They hooked me up with some Nitrogen charged Donahoe Racing shocks and dammit if they didn't make the ride night and day different.

The Rancho's have no pressure (you compress them and they don't open back up on they're own, they rely on the springs) and that creates a lot of issues. The Nitrogen has some decent pressure, you compress them, and they'll expand back out quickly, in fact, it took two hands to compress and hold them so I could get the mount bolt in there.

They are a lot better and only about $89 a shock. The guy at SDHQ said the only thing better is Fox Racing shocks w/reservoirs, but he also said they'd only be needed if I was racing off road all the time. Don't waste your money with anything else, get Nitrogen shocks the first time.

They don't make Donahoe's for anything except Ford and Toyota trucks. But, look around and make sure you find Nitrogen pressurized shocks valved for YOUR truck.

I have an 02 silverado with the 4.8 v-8,

I added JBA headers, and a 3" cat back exhaust with 2 chamber flowmaster, stock exit single exhaust, this is supposedly the best setup, for performance gains

also I have the FIPK K&N filter and Superchips programming, before I added 4:10 gears, I could get 23 MPG on the highway.a few months ago, I got Bilstein shocks, front and rear, great improvement.

they say gibson exhausts are pretty good, and they sound nice too. Go to their website and listen to some of the sound clips.

Or you could do like me and just make your own exhaust :headbang: . I got a 96' 4 cyl sonoma with dual straight pipes. I first took it to a local muffler shop and they cut out my old exhaust and then I had them put in a ravin muffler with 2 outlets and put dual pipes straight out the back.

Then after a while I got bored and decided to take the ravin muffler out and replace it with regular pipe. I couldn't find a piece of 2 into one pipe to fit, so I went to auto zone and bought a bunch of pieces of pipe and cut n' welded my own and stuck it in place of my muffler. Now my truck has nothin but pipe for the exhaust, no muffler or catylitic converter ( < was cut off before i bought it).

Its pretty loud, especially when you rev it high and whined out each gear, but the tone is just badass  sounds like one of those fast n' furious cars :headbang:
