sandgrencivic2k1 Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 Ok, I am building up a banshee right now and am trying to determine which tires I want and what gearing I should go with. I am building up a 472 68mm Cheetah motor. It will have 35mm Keihns, k&ns, pretty much the works. I want to go with a 22" tall tire but can't decide on to go with the extremes or stay with the regular haulers, 10 paddle tires. What do you guys suggest? Also what would be a good gearing to start out with. They estimate it to be about 95hp. All information would be greatly appreciated. Quote
race-a-holic Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 I'm using 22 in.9 paddle extremes on my 350 ported with alcohol,so I don't think 10 paddles will be enough for you.I'd like to try a 10 paddle on mine.I'd probably use the extremes.Might use an 11 or 12 paddle extreme. Quote
89Steeda Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 22 11 8 12 paddle Extremes. I wouldn't be suprised if you go over 100+ HP. Better have a long swingarm. Quote
flanders Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 ya, 10 paddle haulers wont be enough. im pushing 10 paddle normal haulers on my banshee now, and ive probably got around 50hp. go with the extremes, my buddy has 9 paddle extremes and they hook up almost as good as mine. with that setup you should be looking at atleast 12, i would probably go 14 tho. sandgrencivic2k1 Posted May 25, 2005 Author Report Posted May 25, 2005 Well actually it is my dads banshee that is being built, but he is having me do a little research since I have one "sig". But yes he is having trinity do all of the work. he sent the motor down last week so what I posted above is what I know. He is sticking to the fmf sst pipes that were on it when he bought it, I told him to get some cpi's but he didn't go for it. we will both be riding it probably and he is about 220, and I am about 200. His swingarm is stock (bad move for sure) but he wants to try to keep it looking somewhat stock. He said he might go +4 in the future, which won't be enough, but he wants it to be somewhat of a play bike when need be also. Also what gearing should I go with? Quote

You had better tell your pops that is a very big motor for a stock swinger. Even if he is trying to build a sleeper, hes going to need some length on that bike. IMO 22's might be a bit tall for a stock arm as well, i've seen some guys run that way, but many complain of bottoming out. I'd at least go a +6 (if it were me). As for gearing, i'd probably go with a 14/38 or 15/38. Thats a lot of HP and shouldn't have a problem pulling. I run a 13/41 with portiing and that seems to be perfect gearing for my style of riding (dunes). Quote
BdBanshee Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 I wouldn't recommend regular haulers to anyone, they don't last. Almost everyone I know has had them lose several paddles in just a few dune trips. We are having good luck with the Extremes. Quote
